I always enjoy the jaunts in the Star Ferry - great value as well.

I cant get over the clear, blue,HKG skies. You are very lucky.

Lovely couple of days. Forecast for Rome is exactly the same - hope our luck holds out for the rest of the trip.

Never leave HK without a return trip.

Ok, our flight to FCO leaves 00.30 tonight, hotel car booked. Currently ensconced in the LP lounge warming up for the main "Wing and a Pier" event later tonight

Should sleep like a baby on our way to FCO.

Well that sorts that debate - Pier F is the now the clear winner of the HKG lounges... IMO

What a beauty...

Interesting screen from the moving map - 36,000 feet above the Turkey/Syria/Iraq borders.

After having our fill in the lounge, I felt the overwhelming desire to sleep ... managed ~ 8 hours

Breakfast was served a couple of hours out - wasn't very appealing.

Hotel car was waiting and soon enough we were on our way. Arrived at our hotel around 7.30am where the greeting was warm and welcoming even though we were around 7 hours too early for checkin.

Breakfast was offered, and we accepted.

Our suite wouldn't be ready for another couple of hours so we decided to show the kids their first Roma experience.

I've been lucky to visit Roma a few times however, the last visit was 20 years ago ... really enjoying walking around this lovely city again.

Ready for our first Italian feast - it was time for lunch.

Hope your weather in Bergen is better than we got. We got 3 rainy days in Bergen which meant we didn't get about too much. Will keep an eye out for your photos to see what we missed :)

Also, not sure if it helps you at all (as I think you've been to Norway previously) but there's really no need for any cash in Norway. As a friend told us, they joke that anyone carrying cash is elderly, tourist, or a criminal :P

Thanks for the tip. Norway is a first for all of us.

I've sorted written off fine weather for Bergen - have booked Noway in Nutshell so we'll be heading out no matter what.

Hoping for clear skies in Tromso ... fingers and toes crossed for the Nth'n Lights. Have hired a car and driver so we can venture into Finland or Sweden if necessary.

It's luck of the draw and being the seasoned traveller you are you will enjoy it. I had four blue sky days in Bergen and was extremely lucky.

Thing that sticks in my memory though is someone asking me (in Norwegian) to look after their baby while they went into the shops when I was on a public phone outside calling Australia!
