The website says, must be 100ml or less. But Sprays are usually weight based arent they?

e.g. Shaverguard for shaver is 100g.

I know that can just be packed into the check in but it ended up to be part of a duty free receipt and is needed to get past the $300 mark...... > <...

Generally they treat 1g=1ml, or if it just looks small enough.
Note also it is not QFi rules, applies to all International Airlines.

I wouldn't say that is the case. I have seen the conversion somewhere but will post when I can find it.

The real question is - why r u going to so much effort to save $27?
just enjoy your holiday!

I thought customs provided the ability to have liquids sighted before check in and security. Those allowing it to be packed in checked luggage. I've had a quick look at the customs website, but I can't find any specific information. Customs home page It might be worth contacting them to find out if they have any special arrangements.

If you look on the side of most aerosols they show a weight and a ml amount. A standard sized aerosol can is north of 100ml - which is why I am stuck with Rexona when travelling as it is only anti-perspirant/deodorant on sale in mini sizes here in Oz (in the UK there are a few more brands). There are a few body sprays but they just mask the stink rather than stopping the sweat. And they don't lead to hordes of women following you through the airport as the ads would suggest.

I've been carrying a brand of aerosol deodorant that comes in cans marked "100g" for a while now...

It regularly gets pulled out and looked at... but the only time it was confiscated was leaving MEX.. where NO liquids are (or were at that time) allowed...THAT came as something of a shock!

for liquid type products like hair spray or deodorant or cologne I would agree the general rule for security checkpoints would be 1g=1ml. So if ur shave cream was 100g I'd say you'd have to come up against a hard pressed security agent to tell you that it can't be carried.

Some airports can be over zealous with sprays though. Guangzhou airport wouldn't let me carry 100ml of deodorant because it had a 'highly flammable' symbol on the side. My protestations that I could take it through every other checkpoint in china feel on deaf ears.

But I was allowed on with a lighter.

I am always confused with this stuff as well.

Last time I traveled no probs at all.

Time before I had to have a few words over a ventolin puffer.

Just looking at a Lnyx body spray which only has 100g on the side, where the can of Lnyx Dry (Antiperspirant) reads 100g/160ml on the side.

IIRC you can go to customs before the check in, so you can put your items into your main luggage.

Another point to make is, the 100ml/g must be lockable /protected so that the top can press down and discharge

Is this an Oz only requirement? I recall early last year that they started checking this in Oz (for me it started in MEL and the cancer slowly spread to SYD).

I don't understand this business about customs could someone please explain?

You can get stuff checked as to whether it is ok to bring on board before you check in and if it isn't ok then you can put it in your checked bags.

I have never done this and wouldn't know where to do it.

Also apologies for the lack of multi quote.

Also as the OP specifically mentioned it being duty free the goods have to be presented to Customs when leaving the country.

I took the OP to be the TRS which is presented after security. I thought you could buy below $300 and not pay the GST/Duty but then had to present the goods to Customs before departure. Maybe that changed some time ago (I know my wife bought a hair drier before we flew back to the UK in 1999 and it was bagged and checked before departure - it was less than $300...

I have just got to the point now I just travel very light through customs and immigration now.

Last year our daughters water bottle tipped out by customs and then all we did was went up to Flounge and got them to refill the bottle.

She wasn't happy as she had a straw in the bottle which was fell out as he tipped it out.

Thanks to the Flounge staff for finding her another pink straw.

Sounds reasonable. But either way liquids over the security limit should be able to be presented to customs before check in for sighting purposes to claim under the TRS. (in theory)
