Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

They never pushed me any wines in MEL. Service is quite bad this year but I won't get into this subject here.

Wife had a really great experience in MEL F today. She was travelling alone with a broken arm and ordered the risotto since it's easier to eat with only one functional hand, the waiter asked if that was the reason to order that dish and told her that the chef would be more than happy to precut any food so that she wouldn't need to use a knife. Now that's service!

Brilliant. Well done QF.

Good service indeed.

On my previous visit earlier this week they forgot to announce my flight and I've missed it :( Hope for better experience when I'm back there again tomorrow.

That is disappointing. On the upside you get to have another meal in the lounge!

Travelling on my own I'd be looking at the board to see when boarding is called if possible. Though that does rely on being finished doing other things e.g. dining in the lounge.

I guess you are entitled to rely on a boarding call in a F lounge. They are certainly more proactive in SYD announcing delays and encouraging guests to remain seated until called. Elsewhere though I check boards and my apps as I know I have missed boarding calls before - easy to get distracted.

I am surprised though they didn't call you by name once you had failed to board. Were you HLO?

I never rely on boarding calls though. I like to get on asap esp on the rare occasions I fly in F to get the full boarding experience. i.e. Champagne.

Yes, I wouldn't have been so relaxed in other lounges. Was busy talking on the phone and track of time. The lady at front desk (was only one there which is also unusual) was also on the phone when I went to ask about my flight and she was clearly surprised and announced it strait away but it was too late... It happens, we are all human. At least I can say they handled it well and put me on the next available flight.

When flying F I don't bother much with the lounge apart from massage. Makes little sense eating too much and drinking inferior alcohol when five course meal with matching wines awaits onboard. So yea, I'm also among the first to board for that extra glass of Comtes before takeoff ;)

They apologised again for what happened earlier this week and promised not to forget calling my flight today.
All good now, back on topic. Time for breakfast :)

Not normally a sweet fan but the choc croissant pudding is too good to pass up. (And too good to stop halfway through and take a better photo).

You know what, I was just looking at the dessert section thinking should I order the pavlova again, go for the modest apple cake or go crazy with the croissant. Usually I go for the first option but seeing your photo now made me change my mind :)

Don't know if it had anything to do with the little incident earlier this week but service in the F dining room today was AMAZING! Mostly thanks to Lisa which is totally awesome and will get a very good feedback!

I've had nothing but fabulous attention and service in the MEL lounge. Usually there of an evening though (which is good since the spa is open).

I found some of the more senior staff in the dining room to be not the most friendly nor the most attentive.

I know what you mean. They kind of left us to it a few weeks ago as well. No topping up of drinks etc.
