Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

One and (likely/hopefully) only sample of the all day menu in SYD. Most underwhelming food and beverage menu I've encountered. Struggled to find anything of interest for the first time.

Chicken tartine was OK but had a slightly odd aftertaste:

Duck was totally devoid of taste/spice/flavour. Was ironically a generous serve:

Wines abysmal -- even the decanter wine (a 2014 shiraz).

Worst of all the whiskies have been dumbed down even further. It's basically bourbon or JW black (all of which I don't mind but hardly premium). Even the Mars Iwai is gone. When I queried the staff the nice attendant said "The supplier has stopped importing, so no choice". When I pointed out MEL still has Oban, Talisker, Glenkinchie, Dalwhinnie, Cragganmore and others... "Um, oh." Pathetic.

Still, views can't be beat.

And nice welcome and chat with Gregory, and good service throughout. But a disappointing visit.
I have to agree about the whisky choice in Sydney. Passed through MEL F lounge two months ago. Much smaller than Syd F and the retaurant area was busy with queueing. But the whisky choice was good. Had the same conversation in Sydney. The single malt is Glenlivet and they used to have Glenmorangie and Chivas Ultis (about $250 a bottle).

Food is getting tiresome, but then again I'm in there at least once a month, so looking forward to the summer menu.

Has anyone noticed the buffet selection has changed. No more chorizo and marinated mushrooms!

The biggest change is for portions of the day (early and late) there is no buffet food. Annoying if you don't have time for table service but would like a quick bite.

I thought that was the norm. I arrive at the lounge between 3 and 4 pm. Sometimes I'm lucky, sometimes I'm not. It's been like that for the 7 years I've beeing going there. Usually closes after the big flights leave, QF 1 and QF7. You can always ask for the buffet items in the restaurant, though you have to wait.

Nooooooooo. The PJ was the only saviour of a rather poor champagne menu 😭
Transited through the LAX F lounge a couple of times last month. First time, Taittinger was on the menu and available though not mentioned when I asked the waitstaff which bubbles they had before the menu arrived. Second time through and there was no more Taittinger. I should have asked if that was it forever or just for now..

Surely must be into summer menu by now? Not into shampers. Red for me, shiraz or cab sav. I'll see next week.

Spring Menu didn't come out till the 10th or 11th of September so wouldn't expect the summer menu for another week or so.

Anyone know if summer menu is out yet?

I'm curious too though I fear it might just be another rehash of the last one. Maybe with two or three money-saving 'enhancements' thrown in...
