SYD menu earlier this week.

Barramundi was average.

Decanter wine was Alcala McLaren Vale Grenache 2017. It was very nice.

Asked for the brioche pudding and got a pretty ordinary chocolate pudding. One spoon and was sent back.

Server confirmed it was a mass produced thing.

On the plus side the viognier was nice. I’ve never thought of it as a dessert wine though.

Oh that's a pity as I looking forward to enjoying that on Saturday as I wasn't keen on the butter mochi cake posted earlier (must just be in MEL). See they have vanilla pears with ginger and will try that instead.

Have to say I was rather flabbergasted to not be told in advance that I wouldn't receive what I ordered. Didn't make enough of a fuss (other than sending it back). My advice is to order it and ask if you will get the brioche pudding and not a choc pudding. No harm doing so, and sends a better message.

With the limited number of dishes on the menu, you'd think all the staff would be aware by now that the menu doesn't match the actual food ... couscous without any couscous, brioche pudding without any brioche, etc. It would be far better from a customer service perspective to advise customers of the difference rather missing expectations.

Sorry for the delay in posting details of my visit to SYD Flounge on 29 June. I arrived just after 11am and went for a number of dishes as I was very hungry :). Salmon sashimi, duck and eggplant salad and pork gua baos (my favourite!). All very delicious.

After a little while I asked for the vanilla pears and was disappointed with the dish. Only a few slivers of pear, and it was covered in a sugar syrup that was so sweet it actually hurt my tooth to eat it. Sent it back for the brioche pudding, Dean was very helpful and said that it looks very chocolate but it is the sauce and is not like that inside. He was right, and it was very moist and tasty especially with the cream. I attached photos before and after a couple of bites.

Keen to see the Spring menu as well. Will be flying to ZQN next week and booked the afternoon JQ flight over the morning QF flights to check it out.

The Stir fry duck with black vinegar, choi sum, cashews and chilli was awesome, a subtle black vinegar flavour that could have been more pronounced. The rice to sauce ratio was a bit heavy but overall a solid duck offering.

Mhm. Like the menus on Qantas flights, not enough variety in my opinion. About half the dishes haven't changed at all it seems which is disappointing.

Exactly my remarks to the wait staff.. “what exactly has changed?”. Many dishes have essentially been enhanced in some way and not completely new concepts.

Thanks snabbu. Will be heading in this weekend so keen to try a couple of the dishes but I agree with Berlin that the menu is lacking variety.

The return of sashimi was short-lived. Lucky I had about four serves in one for the previous menu.

The menu is still good, but agree, the change/variety from previous iterations (which was an outstanding feature of the F lounges) is no more. Wines look very underwhelming again.

Go the chicken tartine as entry, and the barramundi as main. Both dishes were ok, have eaten better in the past. Syd F.
