I was just doing a dummy booking from PER-SIN and it gave numerous CX flight options via HKG.

I wonder if this means the CX problem has been, or is in the process of being fixed?

I only get CX options if I'm looking at reward flights. Only QF if paid flights.

I don't remember ever seeing CX flights available for a QF booking. There was another mention of this on AFF a few days ago, PER-BKK via HKG I think, and I could not replicate the booking on the QF website.

Hopefully it has been/will be fixed. It would be nice to have more flight options.

When? From memory CX flights have not appeared on the QF award booking engine since 2007.

Yep, CX award flights showing on QF site MEL-HKG and vv. in July. Hoping to vist HKG again (famous last words, something often gets in the way) so this is good for me (more choice).

Thx for the heads-up Flashware!

I did book an award MEL-(QF)-SYD-(QF)-SIN-(CX)-CMB online in mid 2005 ...

Wow - quite a few CX availability for redemption but for HKG-SYD its 65k points one way on CX versus 60K points flying QF

And I clicked on economy, and there's a 20% discount, so 24K points one way.

I believe QFF has always charged more for a partner award.

True with the exception of BA, and I think AA, which are not classed as partner awards. I remember a few years ago redeeming a one-way award SYD-SIN on BA for 30,000 QFF points plus taxes and surcrharges.

This is good - now I can use the QF website to check awards that I can then call AA to book :)

Does anyone know whether you are meant to get a e-ticket confirmation of an award booking on CX straightaway ?

I have made a J booking on CX for HKG-SYD in Apr and while its in my current bookings, there has been no email sent to confirm my reservation. Also, I noticed there is no seat preference noted in the preferences. Does it take a few days given is a partner award booking ?

On my SYD-SIN booking, seat 12K had been noted.

Hopefully, the CX flight at midnight is with its new Herringbone configuration....pretty sure it does, but wondered if anyone can confirm that it is, on CX101.

thanks & cheers

PS..Opps just got an email from QF that the flight has been confirmed. So, it does take a little while....

Is this really true? I can't seem to find any LHR-HKG seats on QF site, but there are many on the Asiamiles site. If yes, it will save me 5000 points in making a Oneworld award booking

Not really working for me too.

They were definitely there a couple of days ago, "I dun seen it with my own eyes", however when I looked last night, SFA - who knows what is going on. My suspicion is that they're trying to get 'em back permanently and having hiccups, or they accidentally put 'em back so have now removed them again.

Those seats were definately there. After I booked mine, I noticed the next day they were offering QF seats again for the HKG-SYD route.

It could have been a mistake QFF had released those seats for CX but I am thankful I got one of them.

I just hope they don't send me an email to ask for it back !

Doesnt always work that way.A week ago was trying to book a J award with EXP desk for mrsdrron. As I was talking to them i had the QF site open and I could see 2 J seats open for redemption BNE-LAX on the 7th august.EXP agent couldnt access them.Did as always advised rang back and talked to a second agent, same result. He then talked to a supervisor and still no result. So now she is flying via HKG 3 days before I go.Has to spend the time alone in a suite in NYC-boy is she upset!
Same thing happened in June last year.As well QF couldnt see any availability on AA NRT-JFK though I could get an award through AA any day of the month.

I imagine they're still available, just got to ring to book them, and pay 2500 pts for the privilege. Much more user friendly if they're available online.

Enjoy your trip!

I would be very surprised if QFF or any FF program did not have certain award seats available at any given point in time exclusively for their own FFers.

So as you explain if you can see award seats available on QF website does not necessarily mean you will be able to book them with Aadvantage....

If there is X availability, then there is availability to all

The exceptions are those seats which the carrier may restrict to their own high tier members. QF has a separate extra set for Gold/Platinum... AA has expanded inventory for Executive Platinums, BA allows Gold members to book awards in V class if X is full

A bronze QF member has exactly the same availability as an AA member ( excepting that QF allows members to book at 355 days rather than the 330 for AA )
