CX available on QFF

If there is X availability, then there is availability to all

The exceptions are those seats which the carrier may restrict to their own high tier members. QF has a separate extra set for Gold/Platinum... AA has expanded inventory for Executive Platinums, BA allows Gold members to book awards in V class if X is full

A bronze QF member has exactly the same availability as an AA member ( excepting that QF allows members to book at 355 days rather than the 330 for AA )

Dave
Except that 2 out of 2 times this has not happened for me trying to book a J award that as a bronze QF I could see on the QF website but as an AA EXP I could not access.
The interesting thing is those BNE awards have gone now but a J award SYD-LAX has opened up on the 6th.

It looks like CX can't be booked online on QFF. It only lasted a few days.

CX was bookable up until around 2005.

Does anyone know if CX will ever be available again online for QFF?

It has been mentioned by Oneworld (possibly even by QF also), that it will be operational this year.

Is there a way of finding out the approximate taxes without having to call QFF?

(sorry, i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this Q, i did a search and came back with nothing)

Thanks Mal,
I was after the Cathay flights.
I tried doing a dummy booking on Cathay website direct and was able to find out the "taxes/surcharges" component of the flight ticket.
Hopefully, this would be consistent if I was to redeem an awards flight thought QFF.
Cheers,

The taxes will be different as each airline charges fuel surcharges differently. Because Qantas is booking the ticket instead of you booking it with Cathay direct, then it will vary slightly.

Do you have a particular route in mind? I should be able to do some sums quickly...

no, I was just doing some rough comparisons to help my Father decide whether to transfer his credit card points to his QFF or to Velocity.
It looks like QFF offers better value for points and more international destinations.

Thanks for your help :)

I've been using the BAEC tool to look at awards as they show all of OW. Amazing how much more readily available CX awards are these days than QF ones. I used to think it's the opposite. In J, CX was available almost everyday when I was looking to do HKG in June whilst QF showed no availability most days; it's a DO so my dates aren't flexible - I gave up and ended up with one way on CX, but found availability on QF via SYD on the way back. Which was just as well as the QF flight to MEL departs HKG at the ungodly hour of 9am whereas to SYD it's a nice civilised evening departure. :p

yep.. it seems that CX is no longer avaliable on QFF...

I was trying for Award Flights to Delhi in July.. QFF came with nothing. When I rang up and asked, they gave me CX options. Of course I fork out 2,500 extra points.

Can't wait for the time when all OW will be on the same website..

Hi, was just browsing for award flights and noticed that Cathay Pacific was available to book using points online with QFF so just booked a business class CX flight CNS-HKG return in Sept 10 ...

Hopefully they will be permanently available online now ?

Cheers
Mark

EDIT: Just had a look at checkmytrip.com and the QFF Amadeus reference number worked and showed my Cathay Pacific booking. Looks like CX have finally moved over to Amadeus ...

It doesn't mean that. If you book through Qantas there will be a Qantas reference which contains the details of the booking. Doesn't mean that Cathay Pacific use Amadeus

But they are...
Cathay Pacific Signs for Amadeus Altea – Who Will Win? Airline world

They're also using Altea, so perhaps they've just started the real-integration of it.
I made some booking last week with CX - they are still using 5 character PNR's so not yet Amadeus in that respect.

However, I was able to select seating online using International Flights, Asia Airline Travel - Cathay Pacific International

, so maybe there is a partial implementation.

Can you now get an Amadeus reference number for an existing Cathay Pacific booking? I made a booking direct with CX a few months ago and would like to view it under "Your Bookings" on QFF...

(The CX latest points booking I did through QFF shows under "Your Bookings")

On which airline is the flight? If its a CX flight booked by CX then it won't have an Amedeus booking reference and won't be visible on QFF Your Bookings.

If its a QF flight, then you need to ask either Qantas or Cathay Pacific to provide you with the Qantas booking reference and then you will be able to view it.

Yeah it's a CX booking on a CX flight ... oh well ...
