CX Lounge entry denied (SFO)

Oh, i believe there is a list and trust AFF more than i do the call centre people i spoke to. I had called them to see if i could try my luck at just asking to be on the list. Long shot but it was worth a try.

I had no problem getting in a few weeks ago - as a LTG + guest + a minor....I was a bit surprised after reading the thread but we just walked in with plenty of confidence and all went fine.

I think it depends on the day - son got in without any issues as a gold. That was on a Friday night.

Am currently in the SFO CX lounge flying tonight on QF74 in J. No issues at all and I've even had a shower.

Now to enjoy 1K in an old 747 for the trip home.

On my recent flight, I was the 1st pax to enter the lounge. There was a guy (manager?) and dragon talking. The guy said QF have their own lounge. Is said it says on your website any OW member can use the lounge. The dragon just took my card and waved me through. I have no status.

I (along with a few others on QF74) had no problems getting in a week ago. Only problem was that finger foods didn't come out while I was there. Guess they decided not to feed QF pax.

Update: I was denied entry! CX dragon said their flight was full and there was a hand written list for eligible passengers, which she referred to. There was less than 10 people in there at the time from what I could see (which was about 7:45pm). The AF lounge is pretty ordinary with poor food and beverage offerings, and no shower facilities (which is the worst part for me)!

Conclusion: QF have lost me as a customer on the SYD-SFO route. I'd rather go through LAX and then I can fly VA with their superior product.

Obviously you were not as forceful as our esteemed agent 86 when confronted with the same problem.

Denied entry yesterday, WP and SG travelling in business on QF74.

Angel said that the Cathay flights were full they were not allowing any Qantas passengers. I asked whether they were still part of One World, she laughed and said she gets that question a lot.

Lady about 15 seconds before us turned away we saw in the AF lounge later.

Edit - I actually didn't mind the AF / KLM lounge, food selection was ok and replenished often and they had some roaming platters. Certainly been in worse!

The food selection in the AF lounge is not too bad. My main gripe is not being able to have a shower, especially after a long day and when the QF flight leaves so late.

I much preferred the food in the CX lounge when I visited it.

The showers are fantastic and it was great to freshen up after a long day.

Has anyone tried nominating a time you'd be out by? Perhaps based on when CX check in opens. That would tend to remove the capacity limit as an excuse. eg: Can I be granted entry to this clearly underutilised lounge now, in accordance with oneworld lounge rules, if I'm out by 2230? I would imagine this request at 2030 or 2100 would be reasonable.

When I was in the CX lounge most of the QF passengers left when there was a big influx of CX passengers. After all one doesn't want to miss the boarding call.

Except that I'm sure CX would be very dubious about people actually sticking to that commitment. And they can't have CX staff rounding people up and shooing them out of the lounge .......

Tried to access the CX lounge two days ago with Mrs Waimate01 and teen Waimate01 in tow, all travelling Business. Arrived around 20:00 for a 22:40 boarding.

A very nice lady on the desk said "just let me check the list".

No dice.

I said, "but OW!", she said "chairmans club only".

I said, "oh, is it only for chairmans club?". She said "it is tonight".

Obviously they're within their stated rights denying entrance, so we slumped into the KLM lounge. And this is a coughpy lounge. Not the worst I've ever encountered, but then I've flown out of the old Nairobi airport.
