Happy birthday & anniversary and glad it's all going well, after that sub optimal start!

When I'm traveling around, I always find myself thanking people etc in the previous country's language

I have a bit of catching up. We spent the afternoon on the batobus from Notre Dame side to somewhere else. Oops. Seems a while ago now. Odette.

The international bike race went on. And on. And a police emergency broke it up a bit. We reboarded the Batobus and went across from Latin Quarter back to Louvre. Our closest point to Les Halles.

What the F are they doing to the Eiffel Tower. The best photos are now far away. Scaffolding everywhere. Security everywhere. That’s obvious. Just awful now. Glad I saw it before.

Security required just to walk underneath. Those going up had another check.

Took a few silly selfies for the kids. Louvre not busy at all. Maybe it is closed on Sundays? There was a Syrian refugee demo going on behind the louvre as well.

We had to queue until the doors opened. There were several different packages including a birthday one. I didn’t opt for that one because it seemed it was only a cake for another €50. We settled for the mid range package with a nice menu. We were seated group by group.

We opted for the champagne as the drink. It was supposed to be a half bottle but it was actually a full one. Yumm.

We were told we could take photos and go onstage up to show time. After that no photography. We had a dance on the dance floor. Then a photographer came around and took some pictures and I was delighted with them.

The couple next to us had paid for the birthday cake so it came out with sparklers and the entertainers on stage sang happy birthday.

But a few minutes later out came our desert with a candle on top and the entertainers sang happy birthday to me. I’d told the photographer and she must have spread the word. I was chuffed.

The meal was good.

Then more people who’d not booked the dinner came in and the show started. No photos allowed. There was a kind of story. Costumes were good. Just one can can style performance but I’d describe it more as a Cirque de Soleil. Brilliant acrobatics and strength performances. Fabulous skating performance. Magician. Water effects were very clever.

So, the girls. Many girls wore full costume. Only a few and the same few went bare topped but not all of the time. MrPs comment after 90 minutes of watching the girls in brief costumes with bare tops was that they were rather - tall! I was surprised they weren’t thin. They were hardly big girls but they certainly weren’t French model thin either.

We loved all of it. Highly recommend it. And the dinner was very much a part of the experience.

Today is about to end. A bit more restful. Dinner at a Thai restaurant just across the mall. We desperately needed spice other than salt. It was wonderful. Hot and spicy. Best of all was that no one smoked!

Then off to a Moët et Chandon pop up bar. Where else but in Paris.

Correct pronounciation is to say the T but it sounds so much better with the ‘et Chandon’ as well.

Tomorrow an earliest start as we head off on a trip to Giverny and Versailles. Yeah.

Looks like you had a lovely birthday. Food and show sounds great.
Loved your photos.
Paris is one of my favourite cities. I have been there many times and am glad I first experienced it very differently in the 80's but I do still have a fond place in my heart for Paris.

Off to Versailles and Giverny. Bit drizzly today. Huge double decker bus. 90% American. Oxygen already disappearing. Ooh. Nice male French commentator. Love the French accent.

Giverny. Woke up to rain and hasn’t stopped. In a large double decker bus with 60 of my new best friends. Well, maybe not but all ok.

It’s flooding in Giverny. Was certainly wet when we were there and umbrellas complicate everything. Cloud is great for taking photos. Rain not so much.

Gawd. Everyone on the bus is dead. Had lunch with wine and on the way to Versailles and everyone asleep. Bored. No wonder bus WiFi is fast.

The early summer flowers were exquisite. Lilies in the pond.

We were all soggy at the end and paths flooded right across. Lunch was at a restaurant. Normally I hate this as it cuts out touring time but today it’s a bit miserable.

Lunch hotel has great location. Except for the rain.
