Received my GB Meshach Shiraz.
The Courier said "You ring I bring" :)

Note: Jacobs Creek 2013 instead of 2012
Hardys 2014 instead of 2013

It's fine with me.

If you read the AD closely they don't specify the vintages except for the Wynns and Grant Burge.

With an often incorrect indicator of what year they think it will be.

My opinion is that as soon as they know a new vintage is out, and a store has it or their warehouse has it, update the website accordingly. Otherwise it's misleading advertising. It's not good enough to say "well one store might still have the older vintage".

As a lawyer in the state of NSW, I have a very good understanding of the concept of misleading and deceptive conduct. And in this instance I have no problem with DM's conduct. At no stage where you promised a particular vintage other than for the Wynns and Grant Burge products.

You might want to review the ACL, particularly sections 18 and 29 and the cases that these are interpreted in.

But different stores often have different vintages, so a website update doesnt help. And orders dont always ship from your selected store.

I wasn't aware online orders ever shipped from stores?

Don't they come from the central warehouse? Hence certain items (e.g. World Cup) are only available via online order with delivery.

From the store is correct. Sometimes you will see that the wine you want cannot be ordered and is noted as not available from "Manly Vale" for instance. I have had orders made up as far away as Raymond Terrace store.

Not necessarily.
In fact for the orders I have made for delivery this year (not that many), most have arrived from various stores in various states.
One order arrived in 3 lots from 3 different stores as far away as QLD (to me in ACT).

They must have negotiated an amazingly low rate with Aus Post.

All of the above really. We've had an order come in from a WA store. The recent Wolf Blass offer came in from two different stores via two different couriers.
 
Fair enough - I stand corrected... I guess most of what I have purchased in the past has been available at depot as they always are picked and dispatched fairly quickly. (or I do click and collect, which accounts for most orders).

Despite their disclaimer about not guaranteeing vintages I've never had a problem returning wines if it was a vintage I didn't want or refusing to take a wrong vintage at click and collect.
Part of the problem in not being able to keep track of vintages in such a big organisation is that barcodes only identify the wine, not the vintage, ie all vintages of the same wine have the same barcode.

How do they know at checkout if you have purchased a more expensive vintage of a particular wine? eg. the 2009 GB Filsell and not the 2013 Filsell priced lower.

The cellar release has a sticker.
If the store holds multiple vintages at different prices the barcode will bring up the list for selection, so they have an internal stock number (SKU) as well as barcode.
But if there are multiple vintages (eg 2011/2102) at the same price in the same bin they don't differentiate and just reuse the same sku.
So if they really wanted to manage vintages properly they would need a new sku for each vintage and it seems they choose not to do that other than for the Cellar release and Langtons lines.

From both local and interstate stores and warehouses.

So what do we think of the new Penfolds release today? I am tempted by the St Henri and 389, but not much else.

I was going to buy the St Peters today, but can only buy one of these three. Opinions from the floor - what would you choose...?

No doubt you are getting the squillion emails like I have - what's the cheapest? Is it Dan Murphys?

With the price fluctuations of the 389 2012 in the past year, I don't see a reason to jump onboard right away unless you want to drink some soon. The price of St Henri on the other hand always seem to just move north.

Yes the blue barcode and the cellar release sticker are the give aways.
