Using that same technique, their other secret Margies red blend:

Looks like this:

I've been to Margaret River plenty of times but I can't ever recall Wills Domain. But perhaps I just had my eyes closed.

I have these..
if you like Bordeaux blend style...this is all elegant class

Question for the Mod Hats or those in the AFF know ...

I am curious why this thread hasn't got a 5* rating on the home page of the Frequent Flyer Wine Lover section. I am not even sure what the star rating is, but guessing it helps new comers identify the good blogs to discover.

For me, the Dan Murphys and Other Wine Deals blog is the most helpful in terms of wine deals as it has such broad reach, and there is always a good deal to be had that is not one of the three VinoMofo deals posted daily.

Just curious, but I have been meaning to ask for a while.

First up, what you're viewing now is a thread, and not a blog. You do have the ability to create a blog, but that's usually a more personal post. They're similar, they both allow discussion, but I've always found blogs more personal. Think of a blog like a news article, you can comment on it but the main content is in the blog post. A thread on the other hand has its content spread throughout, contributed by many as it goes on.

At the top of every thread, on each page, are a few buttons to let you subscribe, search, edit (for me :p) and rate a thread. When a certain number of ratings are submitted, an average is generated and displayed in the index. Thus, you could rate this thread high, but another could rate it low, and it might get about 3 stars ultimately, it all depends. I don't think the feature is used to its full extent though!

That's really helpful, thank you samh004.

Re: Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals - BWS clearance

I'm sure these are location specific specials, but today at DM's Campbelltown I got:

This https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_326467/tscharke-only-son-tempranillo for $15 (2010 vintage)

And this https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_705722/tscharke-the-master-montepulciano for $15 (2009 vintage)

May be worth checking your local DM store as the Campbelltown had at least 40 different items discounted.

UPDATE: I visited 2 other DM's this afternoon (Menai & Corrimal). Nothing of note in either of those. Campbelltown probably had a good share of decent bottles marked down because of its location.

very good buying for these two. I do have to ask, are you keeping them for another half a dozen years? surely not. They both sound like they are beauties, and for something very different..

Neither are designed to cellar so will be consumed by the end of the year.

... has anyone bought anything half decent on auction from grays recently?
Bought a case of SA GSM's (at auction) on a recommendation - at $48 a case delivered was a great quaffing bargain - wouldn't say they were fantastic but would give them 88/89 points - good cheap quaffers

... has anyone bought anything half decent on auction from grays recently?

I have brought recently:

- Cullen Diana Madeline 2008 (2 x 6 Packs)

- John Riddoch Cab Sauv 1999 (Magnum)

- Penfolds 389 2008

- (and the rather crazy*) Pirramimma ACJ 2010 (6 Pack)

I have been pipped at the post recently on a number of goodies, including:

- Penfolds St Henri Shiraz 2010 (6 Pack)

- Houghton Gladstones Cab Sauv 2010 (6 Pack)

- Wynns Coonawarra Michael Shiraz 1994 (3 Pack)

- Rosemount Balmoral Syrah 1996 (3 Pack)

- Penfolds Grange 2002

- Penfolds Grange 2008

- Leeuwin Estate Art Series Cab Sauv 2010 (6 Pack)

I also acquired some Peppermint Creek 12 Pack that was duly put in the bin after our office tried two bottles over two Friday night drinks. They were completely gone, but Grays were generous enough to offer a full refund and gave me the privilege of putting the rest in the bin myself - they didn't want them back! I have now decided to steer clear of their bargain basement stuff, and instead look out for deals on the premium stock, especially the back vintages.

Most of the above are on rolling auctions, so I am guessing Grays Wines have some reasonable stock levels on these wines, and you just have to stick to your price guns, remembering the 17.5% buyer premium goes on top.

Now which of you lot keeps out bidding me on these lovely wines ... ?!!

*Why is it crazy? Halliday said in his review of this wine: "To be approached with caution and respect around '25". I couldn't resist the taste challenge and the curiosity of buying a wine that needs to be opened 15 years later with respect and caution! I suspect I will try one and then shift the rest through eBay.

Without prices Wozza, it never happened... ;)

Too embarrassed to say, Prozac! Suffice to say, I paid slightly too much for the Cullens (but it's a stonking wine, so I don't mind). And I paid well over the odds for the Penfolds 389 (I thought I was bidding on a different, earlier vintage: rooky bidding error). But I did pick up the John Riddoch Magnum fairly cheap, and it arrived in mint condition.

Impressive selection, even if you did over pay!

I am available to help you drink them... Park Hyatt, 8pm tonight?

Damn. Just spotted this. Sorry, Penegal. I would have loved to have caught up tonight. Especially as I had cracked open a nice Pinot Noir this evening, which I shared with my father-in-law, but it was lost on him as 'a nice wine'. I am out tomorrow night, but can definitely do lunch tomorrow if you are free. Just PM me and we can make arrangements ...

Wozza how much did the six pack of St Henri 2010 go for?

I maxed out at $104 plus 17.5%, but it went for $114 plus buyers premium - in other words $134 a bottle. The next auction of the 6 Pack went for around $180 plus buyers premium a bottle. I think they over paid on the second lot. But the 2010s are becoming scarce now. So it's not surprising they are commanding a (99 point) premium at auction.

AnonymousCoward
, you more carefully track the Langtons auctions. What are the 2010 St Henri's going for on Langtons at the moment?
