Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

They are bad examples, fellow Wine Lovers. But glad Dan's processed the refunds. The sad reality is the majority of consumers probably will not notice the vintage difference or will feel compelled enough to seek a return and refund.

It all adds up to what Redbigot concluded above - you need to be smart with your buys and your returns (or to use his words : you just need to work out how to play them rather than let them play you).

In homage to that excellent advice, I penned the following blog on the subject, titled: The Wine that Started it All and Woolworths Wines Many Faces

http://The Wine that Started it All...arted-it-all-and-woolworths-wines-many-faces/

The irony of a single owner isn't lost on me, RB and AC. In any event, I totally agree with you RB. You just make the right (smart) plays that suit your tastes and budget as the deals roll in.

This is none more evident for me than the other Woolworths Wine company I buy from - WineMarket. I started all excited buying some classic wines from them, referring or 'shouting my mates' about these guys. Only for the website to now only pump out 'mostly' low end, moderately okay, high volume wine - which is not my thing at all. But I do keep going back for the odd browse. As they may offer a decent wine at a decent price as they did for a period in 2015.

We all keep going back for a decent look and only buy when there's a twenty per center off......only natural. But you can't blame them for flogging the proverbial 'goon in a bottle". Seek and you shall find........................tread thru the average and the cream rises to the top because of your vortex. Sounds like a dyson vacuum.

Re: Dan Murphy's online deal today

This is a good deal from DM today:

6 x Fowles Wine Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch Shiraz & Bonus 1 x The Exception Shiraz for $190.

Just for the label alone the Ladies Who Shoot Their Lunch is a great wine - oh and the wine is actually very good as well.

So you think it's worth $30?

Met Matt Fowles at a shindig late last year - funny guy. He convinced me to buy a case after I drunk the tasting bottle

Re: Dan Murphy's online deal today

Yes, $30 a bottle is about right. So that means The Exception Shiraz is around $10. I rarely see LWSTL Shiraz heavily discount. Probably $25 a bottle is the lowest I've seen it for in the last 12 months.

Cool, Thanks.

My main concern with the Exception Shiraz will be cork quality given J Halliday specifically mentions it, but sounds like it could be quite a decent deal then.

Re: Dan Murphy's online deal today

There's a $15 AMEX credit on $80 spend at Dan's online in February which could bring this down a little more.

He mentions that far too frequently from my experience.

Add the 10% WISH card discount + cashback bonus and this is a very good deal.

There is also a Dan's Amex offer right now that would get you $15 back.
