Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I had a 2012 Jim Barry First Eleven on NYE. Drank spectacularly well.
I believe the Jim Barry vintage in the pack is 2016 despite the vintage displayed on the picture. I had 2008 which was a bit of meh (under cork), had 2010 that I really enjoyed and still have 2016.

Block 95 - I would bet is 2019 vintage and their entry terrarossa 2019 was sublime.

Majella would be 2018 going by a recent mixed pack purchase and I could not understand the fuss about it. Nice wine but not a cracker.

what would this be please~~~

This 96 Point Margaret River Cabernet - from a 5 STAR Halliday winery - was A SELL OUT last year. And luck would have it, the winery has come back with the last of the spoils...ordered to CLEAR.

With a further reduction, now at BELOW HALF PRICE
(UNDER $45), you'll not see a deal as good as this anywhere...
Secret Wine # 508

"This is a sensational wine, as was the previous vintage. Seen through the lens of the marvellous 2020 season, this is succulent, flavoursome, supple and downright delicious. The acidity is slightly tart (on my page refreshing, but we are all different) but it punches through the walls of fruit and gives handholds for the next part of the climb. The tannins are fine and chewy, and the oak – where is it? Imperceptible. Awesome."
96 Points James Halliday Wine Companion

"There's no getting around it, the supple fruit in this x is extraordinarily attractive. It sings. It has notes of pomegranate, raspberry coulis, red licorice, pink peppercorns and layers of fine, silty tannins. There is brilliant fruit concentration here, which will see it sail through the next decade or two with ease and grace."

Jim Barry XI cab sav is 2008 under cork actually in this pack. I think it passed its prime from my last tasting, but I could be wrong (maybe it was a poor cork). I'd be consuming it quickly at any rate.

Ive had the 2008, 2010 and 2012 vintages of the First Eleven all in the last 6 months and without doubt the 2012 is streets above. I found the 2010 (screwcap) tasted superior to the 2008 (cork).

Ive got a wad of 16's in the cellar which I'll have to have a look at soonish.

A tad dis at the 08 under cork = roulette wheel…
BUT all is not lost.. the tracking has been really odd and the delivery has not been moving at all (makes auspost look brilliant).
Tonight is doesn't want to know me or my tracking number.. maybe it has evaporated and I will need to..er..negotiate with Langtons...

I got mine delivered to the local Dan’s to avoid potential heat issues. Yet to collect

Wow, and the '08 is one halliday gave 88pts to amongst usually high scores and suggested a very short drinking window for him (to 2020). Well played Langtons, feels like a nice mankad!
