Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Getting access to the list after tonight becomes the problem. A kind word to DM staff may result in one being produced.

tiger8888, it was a limited time sale for My Dan Murphy members tonight.

Last year the sale went for a week. Mini2's local manager said it would be the same this year.

Certainly last year I went to two other DM's on the weekend after the event and had no problem getting an updated list of what was available.

Thanks for your help. I am a DM member and hadn't heard anything about it.

They sent an email about it some weeks ago, and it's on the events page on the My Dan Murphy's site. They sent another email about it today.

Anyway stuff still available at Burwood when I left:
BVE E&E Black Pepper 2006 @ $70
Mount Langhi 2007 @ $65 (no 06/05 available)
Chapel Hill The Vicar 2010 @$60
Wynns John Riddoch 2011 @$110
Petaluma Coonawarra 03/04 @ $40/$50
Cullen Diana Madeline 2010 @$85
Kaesler Old cough 2006 @ $170
and a few others I can't remember. Take another 5% off if using Wish cards. I used up the rest of my 10% off BigW card.

Edit Mount Mary Quintet 05/08 and I think 04 were also available at the prices cited before $110/140/150 or similar.

Wollongong store: Although there were 3 pages of offerings, in my view there weren't any bargains. At least compared to the prices that I know I could get same wine for - although if you looked at the claimed shelf price from DM some of the offerings looks very good.

In the 2015 sale I bought around 20 bottles. In 2016 I bought nothing!

Picked up afew bottles at Kingsford, NSW, including Chapel Hill Mourvèdre 2011 at $25, O'Leary Walker Polish Hill Riesling 2008 at a very sharp $14, and the Tahblik Marsanne 2010 like everyone else at $11.

Was told in store that all reduced cellar release prices would be available online till midnight, including many not available in individual stores. But can see no evidence of that, even when logging in and getting to payment page, having trialled with some of the wines I bought in-store.

was anyone else told this or been able to access the reduced prices online?

I was there too. We had the wonky trolley - kept bumping into things. I had to go back just before closing time because I discovered I'd been overcharged for the Rymill Cab Sav.

Not much to report from Melbourne Qv. 2.5 pages, markdowns around 30-40%. Lots of some things, not many of others. Most were higher priced items. I walked out with 4 bottles of quaffers:

Xanadu Next Of Kin Shiraz 2010 $10.90
Peter Lehmann Drawcard Shiraz 2010 $13.90 (they also had Shiraz Mataro)
Penley Phoenix Cab Sav 2010 $13.90
Jim Barry Lodge Hill Shiraz 2009 $15.90

I was at QV tonight too, around 6.15-6.30!

Bought 6 quaffers:

3 Tahbilk Marsanne 2010 $10.90
1 Tahbilk Shiraz 2009 - was supposed to be $14.90, but charged $20.90, so will have to go back tomorrow!
1 Brands Laira Shiraz 2010 $13.90
1 Metala Shiraz Cab Malbec 2009 $14.90

Forgot about this sale until I read the thread last night - wife was not happy with me going, playing back my words to her about impulse buying clothes she didn't need that were on sale! After a variety of commitments including a 3 month embargo on wine purchases, I finally got the green light.

Highlight at Wooloongabba in Brisbane was Cape Mentelle Cab Sauv 08 or 09 (I forget) at $50 - got three bottles of this, nine of the Vasse Felix 09 Cab Sauv for $28 and a case of other assorted bottles.

I spent more than I should have. Among what I did get was:
Xanadau Cab Sav 2009 $21.90
Wynns John Riddoch 2009 $89.90
McWilliams Lovedale Semillon 2005 $36.90
Penfold Bin 407 2009 $39.90
Elderton Command Shiraz 2006 $64.90

Next year I will make sure I get to the store a little earlier - people had price lists in hand and trolleys loaded prior to the official start.

We got overcharged last year and had to duck back to get the extra refunded.

Same in our store which was a bit unimpressive. And we were 10 minutes early, but some of the single bottle premium stuff had already been snapped up :-|

So it's been extended till Sunday.

Not at wollongong. I attended again today. Every item that was discounted last night is no longer discounted. Spoke to a staff member and they said it was only for last night.

They'd removed all the labels at Wolli Creek, but they were happy to give me a price list and the items I bought scanned at the sale prices. Did they try scanning any bottles?

Did ok at Welland in SA

1998 Yarra Yerring, 2001 Wild Duck Creek Springflat, 1996 Vasse Felix, 2008 Leeuwin Riesling

Decent prices for some good winter drinking

We were watching 1000 Mile Journey (Great movie btw) which kept me from going till most good stock was gone and got to the Woolloongabba store at about 640. There were 2 of the Vasse Felix Cab Sav left at that point which I snapped up as well as a few other miscellaneous bottles. I should have tried harder to beat you there!

Went to the Holland Park store after and there were about 2 or 3 browsers and most things were still available.

I must say its a bit comical watching everyone scurry around on their phones furiously bringing up tasting notes or calling someone and rattling off vintages.
