Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Hi qaz, I'm referring to the "Joe/Jane Public" one on the 28th, not the shareholder one. I'd never buy shares in a winery. ;) I can't see your tickets as my account isn't setup as a shareholder.

no worries - i'd never either :)

there's also meant to be a non-shareholder one on the 29th - can you access that?

my rosemount account transferred from twecorpcellar can't access any of them :(

Jumped in on a case of this with some mates

Drank a bottle last night with a juicy porterhouse - a little dusty at the beginning, but opened up beautifully over time

100% Merlot - a variety avoided after watching SIDEWAYS - if this is a guide then I am in now!

The other few bottles can rest for a while, will definitely be looking forward to having in 5 years

Had to search to find it! Maybe ask them to review your account? Otherwise max 4 tickets per person so you'd need to buddy up with someone.

Cost: $20 per person
Time: 5:30pm to 7.30pm
Date: Wednesday 29 June 2016

This is a not-to-be-missed experience in which we'll be showcasing over 90 of our finest, award winning wines, which include but are not limited to...

AC gave the Odyssey 2001 a 93 on Cellar Tracker. It is starting to tempt me this set of 7 but I am intrigued as to what the 97'er is?

Very happy to have purchased these 3 for $145 on a clearance from BWS Bowral over the weekend, especially since Wozza himself gave the 2006 a great rap at a recent TWE event.

A couple of weeks earlier the same store was clearing a bunch of other wines for a fiver each and even though a lady before me apparently bought $300 worth of these $5 clearance bottles I still managed to nab 4 bottles of this Ribera del Duero Tempranillo https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_355569/cepa-21-hito-tinto-fino-tempranillo Pretty happy with that purchase too :)

Some people cruise garage sales on the weekend CWH. Do you do the rounds of the bottle-o's? ;)

ahahaha... erm, yes. Sadly I do. Find it difficult to walk past one without going in.

I seem to have a good memory of prices too, hence the bargain/'brag' posts. Though I only say brag since the quantities are usually too small to share (and I usually only want a couple of bottles of most things); I'll always look to share here if enough people can make use of a good deal...

Just be aware that the first bottle was ruined (the most woefully soggy cork I've ever seen) - second bottle was superb, if you like aged Cabernet. I guess you can return it to DM for a refund if it's faulty - I just don't know what value they'll place on it as a single bottle.

I was tossing and turning but eventually passed on it. The comparison was with the Burge Meshach deal, with a much younger red. As it is, went for the VM Star lane sangioveses in lieu of both.

Following on from this I'd be interested to know which bottlos people tend to find the most/best bargains?

I usually find Chambers Cellars pretty good, and they often have a 30% off any mixed 6 deal on which sometimes allows you to find a serious bargain that was already cheap before the discount is applied.

I once found a load of Thorn Clarke 2006 Shotfire Quartage going for $8 a bottle down from $26 in a BWS.

For those thinking of taking part in the 30% off deal at WineDirect, might want to hurry. They've already sold out of some popular items, and the deal gets released to the general public tomorrow. See post further up for full details and links.

The fifty seventh best wine in the world for eight bucks a bottle. It was ranked by a global mob somewhere in that region, probably near 2010. Jealous !
