Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I think there's plenty of people who'd be happy to pay $85 for a 2014 vat 9 (assume we're talking that vintage).

It'll be more than that when it gets released to retail I suspect.

A few more 2015 rieslings adding to the Duke's Magpie Hill, Grosset Springvale, Knappstein Ackland, Sons of Eden Freya...

94-95pt Vickery Eden Valley Riesling 2015 $17.50 @ winestyle (The Botanical)

95-97pt Shaw Vineyard Canberra Riesling 2015 $19.71 @ AusCellardoor using VIVINO

Different people like different things. I took them up on the Chalambar offer. But I also happily paid $85/bot for Tyrells Vat 9 today as well.

2014 Vat 9 $80 @ Langton's :)

What's wrong with 12? Two weeks worth if you drink Coopers on Saturday.

less discount per bottle than six :)

But I'm not a member. And for non-members, it's sold out.
Dunno what the situation is for members - good arbitrage opportunity if you can get yourself a bunch of bottles I guess.

The point is not so much what I spent, but the fact that there is no universal concept of "value" - what one person might think is "expensive", another person thinks is "cheap" - hence why there are Chateau/Domaines in France that are able to sell single bottles at $2k+. Likewise someone else might think something's good value, and someone else goes I'd rather pay 2-10x as much to drink something something better.

The Vat9 probably isn't the cheapest I can get it, but sometimes you just have to carpe diem. Wasn't the most expensive wine I bought today. Nor the cheapest. Drinking a 2008 D'Arenberg Coppermine Road tonight, which I paid $40 for - now this is good value IMHO :)

Fair points, and 2014 was an excellent year.

Just my own curiosity, but what else did you buy today?

Seems a solid selection. I've always been curious about the Wynns Michael, but never tried it - I hope you can report what it is like. And hopefully the Meshach was cellared well!

I've had a 2010 Michael earlier this year (so bought one to replace it) - I think I posted a note in the Nice Wines thread - otherwise it'll be over in CellarTracker. Also hoping the Meshach has been cellared well, but for the price I paid, not too worried - you win some, you lose some with auctions. Had a 2002 Meschach earlier this year (museum release), and it was fantastic (may have posted a note about that). Had a couple of '09s as well - also v.good drinking.

Just bought some GMH Red Meritage 2013 from Geoff Hardy/Pertaringa for $70 a dozen - A very nice and smooth midweek quaffer - beats a lot of the recent V/M quaffers

Nice one, I got some of the Red Meritage. I was tempted by the 2016 Reserve Shiraz but chickened out

From OzBargain, Cracka now has free delivery (prices after AmEx/Cashrewards/referral):

95-96pt Yangarra Estate Shiraz 2013 6pk $19.16/bt
90-96pt Port Phillip Estate Chardonnay 2014 6pk $21.04/bt
91-95pt Port Phillip Estate Chardonnay 20136pk $21.04/bt
93-96pt Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Pinot Noir 2014 6pk $24.82/bt

Actually that's where I bought it from, and checking invoice - it is $80. Less ~$17/bot as I had some credit. Will correct the previous post.

Glad to hear :)

Credit from returns?

How much was the Trinity Hill Homage 2010?

Thanks - must remember them, [post=1493580]they seem good[/post] :)

My recent purchase, through Cracka (thanks to Amex and prozac), just got delivered - nicely in time to take a couple of bottles with me for our wedding anniversary trip to Gold Coast this afternoon.

Now to focus on my WineStar purchase (next week)

I picked up a six pack of Vickery Watervale 2016 Riesling from Langtons - worked out at a little over $10 a bottle. Hoping it will be good!
