Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I bought some last year as a Cellarmasters mystery wine. Paid just under $14 per bottle ($83.20/6).

It's dark and plummy, full(ish) body with a long finish, and opens up after an hour or so into a quite an elegant wine. We've drunk 5 of the 6 bottles, and it's definitely a great above-average quaffer and has always been enjoyed by everyone I've shared it with. If I could get more at $15 a bottle I probably would, but I don't think I'd pay $20+.

Blimey that was a good price. I think $20 or just over is still a decent price for this wine.

Yep, I wish I'd bought more at the time!

You're probably right, $20-ish is still good.

If it matters, the Cellarmasters stock I bought last year was under cork, and I assume still is (they seem to still be using the same photo from when it was a mystery deal).

Anybody believe it can be cellared to 2047?

In my experience the maker is usually conservative in what they state for cellaring potential.

I'll let you know in a decade though, as that's when I'll be tasting my first bottle.

Does the 2047 come from the winemaker though? I'm suspecting it's from the Halliday review.

Precisely, it does come from his review.

JH gives wildly ambitious cellaring end dates on most of his reviews. He may have a good case on some, but this - under cork - is probably somewhat ambitious. I'll save my last one and let you know in 31 years.

I had'nt heard anything from Winery Lane after 11 days so sent an email (last Friday), they responded very quickly with an informative reply and a tracking number.

(Sold more during the promotion than expected and had to wait on new stock to come in from the wineries etc)

My AP Reserve Cab arrived safely at the PO today :)

Terre a Terre 2013 - GW94, CM93+, JH96, at just under $23 a bottle all in is very tempting isnt it?

Yes indeed, now that the [post=1495367]2013 Gemtree Uncut Shiraz[/post] has sold out, it's perhaps their best value wine - unless they restock discounted [post=1512425]Lanson[/post], [post=1503925]Moët[/post] or [post=1485384]Moët Rosé[/post] :)

Hi all, apologies in advance if there's a more appropriate thread for this, but I was wondering if there's a referral scheme for Grays online? If so can someone inbox me a referral?

Thanks

My experience has been quite poor with Winery Lane thus far. Placed the order Sept 4th using gift card. Didn't really get any type of confirmation, but saw it took the shipping payment from Paypal. Sent an email on Sept 4th to confirm the order that I placed. After no response or wine received, sent another email Sept 18th asking what's going on. Received an email today with a note that "I just wanted to confirm the order has now been received."

Gee, thanks.

Winestar must have the best logistics of anyone I've dealt with thus far.

Both orders from completion to my doorstep in regional NSW in under 72 hours.
