Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Looks like my Lion Den invites didn't expire 30/09 (despite the blurb / T&Cs on their site). I still have two left. Please PM me your email address if you want an invite. Thanks.

Edit: to reiterate - need your email address, because that's where the Den website sends the invite!

Edit 2: All gone. Will post again if I get more.

This site has provided me with a wealth of information. As such, I too would be more than happy to share my invites with anyone on here in need. It seems that I still have 10 remaining.

PM me your email address if you would like an invite.

Some help please with this one from Danny M's

  • Varietal: Chardonnay
  • Size: 750mL
This French sparkling is ideal for everyday drinking or parties. The mousse is fine yet persistent and the creamy flavours are well balanced with zesty acidity on the finish. Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, it is great value

How does this eight bucker score so well....and ...has anyone tried it ??

There was one of these on the cellarmasters list, but I passed. But doing some diligence, I came up with this stuff....interesting, and definitely a buy enroute to grand final day festivities.

So BF, grand final day done and dusted, how does Peter the Red's White of Whites stack up? Most of those reviews on Dan's site seemed to be clustered into a short period a couple of years ago. Did Pierre find his mojo for only a little while or does he have the magic touch? I struggle to appreciate pricey bubbly (it's strictly for celebrations only at chez rhodges), but I will concede that the cheap stuff is generally vile, so I too am intrigued.

Like a lot of my life, I was severly distracted on Thursday night with the cellarmasters bonanza. I actually dipped into a mixed sparkling case so that put my good intentions of buying Lucky Petes arian supremo to one side. And to make it even harder, I followed up a day later with a taltarni 6 pack fizz deal. Sacre bleu I was shouting. Merde, maybe next time.

However, I have a mate who is looking to spend about 200 thousand euros on a property he can retire to soon enough. So he gets over to France, gets in tough with the man from legetts real estate and mr smoothie sends me pictures of houses near the bleeding Pyrenees. Plus a comment that I liked saying there are no pockets in a shroud in a cemetery. Seriously slick I thought. All this from a passing interest to my artist (glass) friend. However, as a holiday destination some seventy kilometres from spain and near some water, langeduoc I think is the region, it looks damn good.

Meanwhile I await some CM delieveries but more actual pickups from lygon st. Might just grab the box and head off for some lovely fettucine amatriciana on the strip, a strip where the lovely Alfonse used to roam. My sales assistant thought he was a lovely caring bloke. Hmm. A senior dick said there were bullet holes in the stair well walls as someone was just about to put him down as he was trying to run up. This dude did about four and a half in the Coburg Hilton however had half a mill to play with upon exit. Noooice. Maybe he could have gone to france and sucked on Big Pierres lolly water.

Beefarmer in regards to the Pierre Larousse Blanc de Blanc: One star out of 5 on Wine searcher; 3 star on Vivino ; 83 CT. Described as cheap sweet bubbles. Cheers

Thanks BettyB, I have not used many Wish Cards and none online - do people normally get them in $100 lots, or smaller/larger values? Pro's / Cons?
Is it easy to use multiple cards on DM and pay a residual on a CC? or when checking out on DM and using WC's, does it all need to be via one payment method?

I figure it is about time to get my act together....

I buy $500 vouchers.

When I'm close to finishing them I buy a new one.

Multiple cards are not a problem at Woolworths. Just enter on the self serve terminal that you want to use multiple payment forms or tell the operator that you have a voucher but its not for the full amount. Can also do this online at sites like Dan Murphys.

6% discount is quite good for these - although I have seen them at better discounts, but not very often.

haha, love your posts beefarmer, although some of the Melbourne 1990s references may be lost on AFF.

When I was young *cough*, I used to live in Gore St, Fitzroy, then Faraday St, Carlton, so I remember the area, the identities and "activities" well. It wasn't quite like the TV show, but I guess they had to make it entertaining.

Of course times change. My favourite night club is now a gastro pub. You can't get a chicken Parma anymore, and a fancy bit of chicken breast will set you back $40. A long way from the days of $1 pots of Carlton Draught before midnight, and hugs from the best "door cough" in Melbourne.

Depends on your velocity (and size) of purchases.

I usually just do a few $500 in one order. The vouchers show up by email a few hours later. Also useful for use at other WOW group stores (Woolies, Big W, Tom Dux, etc).

You can also use multiple GCs at DMs online and pay any balance via credit card, if needed.

As Betty posted 500 clam cards way to go - try using a dozen 100 buckers in a purchase and you'll soon see why.

I've been sitting here wondering the same thing and whether to pickup a few. I haven't actually tried their shiraz, only cab savs. I recommend their estate cab sav, but I didn't like the founders block.

Although it's not a deal of the century, this mixed pack looks good too
https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_B999999000440/mclaren-vale-s-shiraz-six-pack

I'd say I'd looks bloody tempting to be honest but I've thrown my wine-drinking money around a little too much of late darn it!

Temptation is such an amazing thing isn't it. So is good quality wine.

I originally looked at the baroosa shiraz 6 packer for 99 and realised that it's probably the same or similar to what I got months ago.
2014 teusner riebke shiraz
2014 heirloom shiraz
2013 ironscraper shiraz
2012 cimicky trumps s
2014 chris ringland cr
2013 mitolo reiver

what do I make of this deal? I haven't tried any yet, but at the price, delivered, it seems alright. I did have a cimicky within the last year and found it alright, nothing spesh.

back to WandD's macca six pack for 149, there appears to be a few beauties there including our favourite label mitolo. The theme tune from the ninetees movie jaws suddenly started to play in the deep caverns of my brain.

and then there's the mystery red pack 8 with bonus Meshach for 199. 7 botts for 199. my view is that this is probably the pick of these three with the burge being the ace. I have a couple of these and have never tried them but this may be the same pack that I bought which contained the lindemans limestone ridge 2013 which I found to be remarkable. worth every cent of its fifty buck tag.

Temptation just isn't another name for sale of the century that used to be hosted by ed Phillips and livinia Nixon. Did I ever tell you an old friend of mine dated livinia. another time. Go cats !

I wonder what deals will fall between now and Christmas. Stacks I feel.
