I've just opened my first box from the recent CM $150 off $300 'click frenzy', and would welcome opinions.
One (of my many) transactions was for a Mystery Box, which after the $150 discount & CR comes out at about $11.90 per bottle.
The mystery wine has turned out to be the Glenlofty Cab Sav 2011.
I've seen many positive reports for the Glenlofty brand in general in the VM thread, but at $11.90/btl I'm wondering whether I've:
1. Got a bargain;
2. Got 'fair value'; or
3. Been slightly over-charged.

Any thoughts?

[h=3]Evans & Tate Redbrook Cabernet Sauvignonaccording to the review when googled.[/h]

Well spotted BC, studied the various reviews on the link and was struck once again at how contradictory they can be and how tricky that makes it for the average punter to divine the truth: Huon Hook 95 points "... a full-bodied, intense, powerful, bright and also complex wine with tremendous density..." Gary Walsh 92 Points "...Medium bodied...perhaps it lacks some depth/concentration, though that may well form part of its charm for some..."

Never tried this, however it got 93 from Halliday, 87 from Mattinson, 89 from Tanzer and has 88 on CellarTracker. I suspect you got a decent, but unspectacular wine. Probably can't complain too much about a workmanlike wine at $12/bot. That said, reading the reviews, I hope you like cool climate Cabernet :)

Can't recall having had the straight Cab Sav from Glenlofty but their other wines via Vinomofo have been excellent value, I can't imagine you've been "sold a pup", crack one and let us know ;)

I picked up the '12 GL Cab from the FO - and promptly returned it.

I love their Shiraz and SV but the cab was not to my taste

Got an email to say that click and collect is now available at first choice stores in nsw. Welcome to what you competitor has been doing since 2014 Westfarmers!

Email stated you get a bonus 2000 flybuys if you use click and collect by October 30.

Thanks, I'll try one out & report back.

Note to self: better keep the packaging, just in case...

I think I've bought at least one case of EVERY Glenlofty wine offered by Vinomofo. They've all been $8.90 (or less, the older ones are gone and no longer in the database) and I think every one has been great value.

Halliday rates the 2011 Cabernet 93, and it originally sold at $25 - $28. On that basis, you got a bargain. I'd be happy to buy more of it at the price you paid.

I've recently been dabbling in Langton's auctions, but i've noticed some scepticism to them. Before i make any more purchases i'm keen to get some advice on these auctions - namely are they worth a punt or too risky seeing as they cant vouch for the storage of the wine?

Have purchased from Langton's for a few years now and have maybe had one or two bottles that missed the mark. Overall pretty good except the % premium went up from memory and I hate the new site.

I've heard this from a few ppl but have only been using the site for 6 months and didn't think it was that bad. What did it used to be like?

It was a little more rudimentary but easier to navigate and hold searches imo.

Other's may say it's better now of course. I tend to use MW a little more nowadays.
