Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Long time lurker first time poster

I received a CellarOne email yesterday about a Flash Sale starting today, but their website is yet to be updated. Any ideas about timing for this based on previous sales?
It's on now.

St Hallett Faith $132 for a dozen. Doesn't seem to say which vintage but I think it is 2015.

I thought about posting the leconfield mystery deal on Ozbargain but thought stuff it because too many good wine deals from here, have been Ozbargained.

Seems to be Laurance Icon Cabernet 2014. Anyone know the story on this one, winery now defunct? 1 review on the 2013 is less then positive, and vivono has score slowly dropping over time, yet there is a bottle on langtons with a bid for $28

Yup, definitely Laurance Icon.

The winery was a bit of a joke over here, primarily because of strange aesthetic decisions at the cellar door. They seemed more concerned with appearance than quality, and that goes to the bottle & wine too (just look at a picture of the bottle). Having said that, I've no doubt they spared no expense with the production of the wine, and some people really do enjoy their style of over-extracted, over-oaked, tannic, vanilla monsters. I fall into that camp, on the right night.

Hey folks,
Have any of our sleuths cracked this Secret Dan Murphy wine yet? They've tightened up on review details which have made it tough for those lacking brain cells (i.e. me) to work out what it could be.

Cheers

I'm not certain, but it could be Hares Chase Ironscraper. Matches on price, JH score and alcohol content, and it's one that gets discounted to about this price from time to time. It's one of only 7 wines I could find on Winecompanion that are 93-point 2015 Barossa shirazes from $26-$50.

Will order a bottle and see what turns up.

It is the 2015 Ironscraper.

My money is on the linked DM mystery 79

Exactly! Their traffic is much higher. Certain members on here need to think more before posting on there. If it's a catalogue offer at Liquorland or something, go nuts, but a secret deal at a smaller retailer which is bound to be low to medium volumes - just keep it here.

What is?
Suggestion....include quote.

It's this:

Is this confirmed or a guess?

Ordered a bottle and picked it up.

(On the Leconfield Cab)

Some more info from my tasting, on days 2 and 3 it considerably was not as good as day 1. Was alot more 'flat' - tannins had gone by day 2.
Just means you need to quaff it all in one go upon opening

Opened my first bottle at the weekend - in a group of 4, no hope of any lasting to a second day. But that's what I'd have guessed. It seemed like something intended for immediate consumption, great value at the price but I wouldn't have pegged it as a cellaring proposition. Halliday's advice to "keep your hands off it for the first few years" was interesting, and I suppose I'll have to take it just to see what happens. But only for a couple of bottles :)

I actually thought the leconfield reminded me of cullen diana madeline. I had one on my birthday, was (slightly drunk) but it reminded me of that nevertheless...lol

I have to agree, didn't hit me as particularly cellarable (nothing like the Wynns Black Label I bought around the same time) and definitely dropped off on the second day. Might pop a few away as a test but otherwise they will all be disappearing soon.

Based on some back vintages I've tried of Leconfield cab sav I'd say it will improve significantly in 5+ years.

I'd say 10 years plus. Leconfield at this age is very good.

I'm sitting on a very large number of 2010's that are just starting to develop.

Here's, what Oz Wine Review https://www.ozwinereview.com/2016/06/leconfields-lavish-new-2014-cabernet-sauvignon.html has to say about it:

"If anything this 2014 Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is the exact opposite of green – it’s teetering on too ripe. Sexy ripe though. Very dark red in colour, it’s concentrated and thick from the outset, with a very lush coffeed blackberry richness with a dash of eucalypt. Ahoy Coonawarra! Polished and silky, the style is silky smooth, fleshy and lavish, every bit the ripe and berry fleshed wine you expect it to be, complete with bitter tannins and warming alcohol. My only quibble that it’s a bit too warm and there’s no subtlety. Still, for weight, juiciness and silky length this is very easy to like. I may even be scoring it too lowly. Best drinking: 2018-2030. 18.1/20, 93/100. 14.5%, $40. Would I buy it? Maybe not buy it but I’d enjoy a few glasses."
