Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Or trying to buy business and dry up cash that might go to Vinomofo. VM "forced" to drop prices on a range of wines today. I suspect Woolies are trying to ruin Xmas for the mof_ boys, but I'm a natural cynic.
Retail in general has been pretty tough the last few months so doesnt surprise me that anyone is tryng to drum up business.

As you probably know, 2010 was a top vintage - I'm concerned though that the store availability varies between the secret and normal listings of the L-B 2010

I purchased a couple of bottles of the Lynch-Bages (amongst others). If what turns up is not the 2010, I'll be requesting a refund.

Per bottle price and review score also seem to differ from the normal listing. Too risky at that price, I feel.

I don't see any risk in it. If its not the 2010 vintage, I'm extremely confident that I'll have no problem getting a full refund. I realise I'm taking a risk with it being a "secret" deal at might not be the wine I want, but the advertised bit being 2010 leaves no room for ambiguity.

I have had DM give me the wrong vintage secret selection; 2007 champagne instead of 2006. They exchanged it with no arguments, and only the comment that their stock control was poor.

Post from ozbargain.

Cellarmasters is again offering $100 off voucher code. It's a straight $100 off a spend of $200 or more, and there is no need to buy a voucher from Groupon for this one. Stack with Cashrewards for extra value.

Most good champagne stocks have unfortunately been cleared out, but Duperrey Premier Cru Brut can be had for $19/bottle or less.

Offer: $100 off sitewide when you spend $200
Code: 100XMASGIFT
Dates: Tuesday 21 November - Wednesday 22 November (midnight AEDT)

Indeed Penfolds Grange 2010 in now $603 across any 6 at Vintage Cellar, and VC members will get extra $25 future credit as the purchase is above $500.

Bad experience with my wine guys. Remember someone mentioned about their bad experience with my wine guys previously. I recently purchased 6 bottles Yarra Yering Dry Red No. 2 from them. After 10 days, I heard nothing. Checked with customer service, no information, no apology! Will never buy anything from them from now on!

Pretty typical hit and miss with MWG and CRACKA. I cancel every second order at cracka due to not fulfillment, last order took 20 days to ship (still waiting for tracking though) They sounded more then happy to direct me to another wine or refund.

I have bought a few things from MWG, without too many problems, but I agree CRACKA (both in the same stable, i understand) are really rubbish.

Against my better judgement, i recently bought some of the 2016 Dexter Chardonnay. Not a peep from them for nearly a month, an email chaser and the wine is apparently now "on it's way".

Never bought from MWG but totally agree with you guys regarding Cracka. I once waited for ever and had to contact them many time to finally receive the wrong wine. I had ordered a Pinot noir and I got a Chardonnay! The won't send me the new one until picking up the Chardy. I even offered to purchase the Chardonnay at a reduced cost but they didn't offer me a decent deal. Took for ever to pick up the wrong wines. Then took for ever to receive the good wine. At the end I got a $20 voucher to say 'sorry' that I rejected as I will simply never order again from them.

An other super annoying thing from them is when you Google a wine that you are looking for to check prices, etc. They always come up but never have the wine you are looking for!

So, do I understand well, MWG and Cracka is the same company?

Cracka are one of these companies that don't always have stuff in stock. They advertise, and when they get an order, they'll then try to source stock from the winery. Which they may, or may not get.

Review-wise I'm in two minds - it's actually useful to have access to reviews of back vintages, because sometimes they come up via other sellers or auction sites.

MWG, whilst now owned by Cracka is run independently by Simon Green. Whilst there were teething issues early on, it seems to run pretty well now, in my experience.

True, not risky, just a pain. And after checking again today (I've been considering buying a bottle) it seems they've updated the listing to the 2011. Will be interested to see what you get.
