Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I've had the Little Giant Shiraz. Bought it for $20 in a supermarket for talking value alone at a BYO restaurant, it was acceptable but I wouldn't be going back. I also bought a 975ml Woods Crampton People's Shiraz for $30 - haven't been able to get the bottle open yet (literally)
Thanks for giving that insight kevviek, the packaging is certainly intriguing, I had read an ok review via Cloudwine but am always curious to get the lowdown from someone who has sampled it in the "real world". The Woods Crampton looks like a moonshine jug but as a quality producer of fine reds will not disappoint I'm sure (if, as you say, you can crack into it) perhaps a pair of multigrips or small pipewrench judiciously applied might shift the lid

Navazos Sherry, Joshua Cooper & Felsina Chianti offers @ Rathdowne Cellars

Thanks - good price/find - wonder why it doesn't/didn't appear on Google?

Apologies if this has already been posted but you can pickup 7x botts of the Hoddles Creek Estate 2017 Pinot Noir GW94 HH92 for just over $16 a bottle delivered from Winestar using the $50 off $150 spend AMEX offer.

Great buying

I'm on the lookout for some decent cab merlot and see today's DM secret selection:
https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ...id=2019_WK03_SecretSelections&rid=457,954,365

I've tried to figure out what it is but haven't quite gotten there. Halliday has two 2014 MR cab merlots that received 95 points; a Brown Hill and a Brookland Valley. Brookland Valley is closer with the same 13.5% alc and 'award winner' title but I'm not sure at all as the price is off.

Has anyone else figured it out? Or have another suggestion for a cracker ~$20 cab merlot?

Its the Brookland Valley. I quite enjoyed it

Can you split payments on Winestar, i.e. buy a $100 voucher on one card then also use another card plus that voucher to buy wine?
Definitely. Made a large purchase last weekend using 5 gift vouchers + one credit card. No problems. Order delivered within 3 days.

I’ve been told yes, multiple vouchers or voucher plus card works fine.
Beware of Winestar Surcharge for non doz purchases..as it is not freight and if you have to return the wine you will need to pay freight and then they will also deduct freight and ins in addition from the credit refund

Interesting. I returned a case to United Cellars today because courier delivered it to my front lawn. So will check. First ever wine returned but I will not tolerate a valuable delivery left unsecure in the weather.
That leaves my potential 2nd return. I ordered 2015 Rhythm Stick Wines Red Robin Clare Valley Riesling from Cracka on the basis of it being an $18.90 wine reduced from $25RRP. You wouldn't use it for cooking.

Good to remind people. But the non dozen surcharge is prominently displayed on their site.

yes ..but u have to drill in and find it ...and when u receive the invoice that cost is categorized as shipping cost....but it aint ...lol
Not sure I agree.

On the homepage you see clearly two relevant statements at the top of the page:

"Free Freight on dozen lots to 98% of Australians"

And:

"FREE SHIPPING
AVAILABLE*"

Clearly an asterisk indicating further details of the terms are available.

Following that link you get:

"Non Dozen Surcharge
The following surcharges apply:
Non-dozen Lots - $10 surcharge or
Fewer than 6 bottles total - $20 surcharge
(Buy in 12 bottle multiples, straight or mixed to avoid these)"

For me when you state 'surcharge' it seems clear.

Indeed, I've ordered < a dozen a number of times and thought they made it VERY obvious there was a surcharge applied.

Just received a call from My Dan Murphy's, they said they're trialing some direct telephone sales to a selection of customers. The offer was Teusner Joshua 2016 for $21 each in a sixer, which isn't bad. I normally tell wine marketers to place me on their no call list but the lady was nice so I said I'd think about it.

So I wanted just one bottle of Coleraine and Kemenys was the only place I could do that online. Had a poke around and found a few good deals. One in particular looks good value at $7.95 but haven't had it, I ordered 6: Buy Wine, Beers & Spirits Online | Online liquor store - Kemenys Australia as far as I can tell is Miles From Nowhere Margaret River Shiraz 2016
The Miles from Nowhere has shiny gold labels and tastes pretty good for $7.95
Bit of a story with the Coleraine....the ullage is down to the shoulder of the bottle, which I thought was low for a 2016, so I emailed the winery. They said definitely something wrong, ask your supplier to replace it. So I emailed Kemenys, they said they are all like that, even on the images on the website. So I added the winery to the email thread and await their response :-?

Dan’s have been offering members specials on 2010 Bordeaux for a few weeks ago (I recall qaz posting about it). Not sure if I missed it at the time, or it has been recently added, but they are offering 2010 GPL, which comes down to $128.10 after wish + CR. At less than current release En Primeur prices, it seems to be reasonable buying.
