Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Langtons "New Year Clearance" just popped up as I was browsing around the site - not sure if anyone here has posted yet - New Year Clearance | Langton's Fine Wines.

A quick glance reveals nothing amazing, but I've been curious about the Bolney, just to see what Sussex sparkling is like; Leclerc Briant Brut at $75 is sharp(ish) too.

I'm a bit of a fan of the Penfolds 407....and am staggered as to how much it has gone up over the years :( The 2017 vintage has just gone on sale and if you buy 6 bottles, it would cost $539,50 or $89.90 per bottle. By using the current 8% cash back offer on cashrewards and using a 5% off gift card to pay, it drops to $78.22 a bottle...still expensive but probably the best price you can currently get for a 2017 407.

You're not the only one.

My target is $55.

Am very hopeful that with different stacking option, that by the end of the year this is achievable.
Let me know if and when this happens please!...I would love to be able to afford to buy more!!

It will happen and I'm sure will be discussed here. Most likely option will be cellarmasters stacked deal ($ off coupon/groupon + WISH + shopback) or winestar via heavily subsidised Amex cash back gift cards. These options haven't failed for me in the last 3 years for buying 389, 407 and St Henri.

Possibly new vintage (2017) of the star lane merlot. Alc and price and region matches. The tasting notes seem a bit misplaced.

It is the star lane. Perhaps not as concentrated or tannic as other vintages, but at $11 nice enough I picked up another six pack
Is a favourite with me so picked up a couple of dozen today. With Cash Back (8% today) and Wish Card works out at less than $10 dollars a bottle so a very happy little camper over here

Cheers for the reminder. I thought 8% ended midnight last night; and as usual tracked at full spend. Bought a few dozen also. Egift cards are fast today came in ~5 minutes.

No 707 or 169 this time as the vintage wasn’t up to standard, so only the 407.
What was your pick of the bunch ?
Was at Dan Murphys today, wines available for tasting included Penfold 407, 389, St Henry and 2015 Grange, nice surprise :)

I loved the 407. Because no 707 this year you're probably getting grapes in the 407 that would normally be in the 707. I'll buy at $60, that's my target.

Didn't try 407... 389 was already drinkable, very nice. St Henry was also enjoyable. Grange was more intense, but standing around a tiny stall with bunch of other super excited people wasn't the best way to appreciate it properly. Later I realised that 10-15ml pour was worth circa $15 rrp, and I happily walked out with just my secret selection bottles that I paid $7 after all discounts/cashback.

Interesting. The 389 at my local was hugely oak dominated despite being opened the night before according to the guy pouring. I'd have marked it not to be touched for 10 years. St Henri was more approachable but still very young. No Grange available.

Just finished a 2002 St Henri at dinner which was sublime.

Cash rewards have increased their rate to 8% ends 9/8

Extended until tonight - besides chardonnay and pinot noir, consider these being cleared in some stores:

Halliday Wine Companion Awards 2020 were during the week with major and varietal winners listed here (though Winefront seem to prefer using the term variety for grapes and varietal as a descriptor) - Dan's were a sponsor and have a special landing page

My Wine Guy similarly have an Awards page - also have them price-match these at JD Cellars using a $30 voucher:

2015 Mount Mary JWDM Cabernet (JH99, GW/JO98) $521.55 delivered @ Different Drop

Corymbia Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (GW/JO/HH96, NS93) $54.95 delivered @ myCellars (pm me for free delivery code)

Xanadu Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 375ml $16.99 @ Cloudwine

Any ideas on this CM mystery MV Shiraz?
Seems to match Blood Brother Republic Bbr Willunga Mv Shiraz 2017
