Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I picked a couple up from Langton's store a few years ago without looking at any notes first - then saw all the comments on tannin so haven't tried one yet. I figure they may as well have a long sleep, but always interesting to keep on eye out for signs of improvement.

Not sure about it being a secret selection.
Yep, this one below, its where I picked mine up from a while back. Decent price when you factor in other discounts.

Dan Murphy's store specific stock clearance. I know this has occurred previously, not sure if it's on again or still a continuation of the previous clearance(s).

Easiest way to find what's on offer is to narrow down items to a specific store and search for those ending in .68, .78 or .88. These seem to be the endings of the prices of items that Dan's is currently discount/clearing.

More than one way that this can be done. But try this:

www.danmurphys.com.au
Select 'shop by products' drop down menu on left hand side of screen
Select 'Red wine'
Select 'Red wine home'
Scroll to 'shop by variety'
Select a variety. Eg 'Shiraz'
Left hand side of the screen select 'pick up from' option and enter the store you wish to search.
Right hand side of the screen select 'show 120'
CTRL F '.78' or another figure and this gets you everything on that screen that has a .78.

A couple of variations I use, you can select "Wine Variety" instead of "Red wine home" and then "Browse all wine variety" to get all red wines in the list.

Also you can sort by Price and select a Price range, most of the clearance lines are over $10 under $55 and it saves a bit of time in the tedious process.

Looks like Dan's have me pegged:
I'm guessing this is the latest round of targetted discounts based on previous purchase history.

This is the price before WISH card etc? It's frequently around that price. It is a huge discount off the headline price, but given how frequently it's available at large discounts this isn't a great price for me. But if you don't have any, it's probably worth that price.

Closer to $70 is possible and my target price.

With current 8% cashrewards - this should be around $72/bottle assuming CR tracks as per usual - that's before wish discounts

I had two bottles of Penfolds to collect from Dans and as they had sent me an SMS to alert them when I was nearby, I did - only to turn up and find they were closed (arrived at 8.15pm, expecting them to be open until 9pm, but no, not this store).

They haven't rung today yet...they must still be waiting for me to turn up. :o
