Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks all. So from my understanding?
- Schubert = Dark Brooding Blend
- Standish = Bigger more generous single vineyard
- Lamella = More elegant , spicey, perfumed single vineyard (all relative of course)

But they can all be brooding and big depends on the vintage, I suggest a mix pack if you haven’t tried any before,we all have our own favourites.

I used to like Standish and andelmonde shiraz, until lamella came along from 2015, I found myself buying more of these than the other 4,Schubert and relic has its own group of lovers of course.

First off, Schubert Theorem isn't a blend - at least in the traditional sense - it's 100% shiraz sourced from a single vineyard. Where it gets complex is that individual parcels from this vineyard are fermented & barrelled separately, which are either blended back into the final product or discarded if not up to scratch.

Otherwise, that's a pretty reasonable high level summary from my experience - with the caveat that these are low intervention wines that are products of their growing season - so nothing set in stone & probably best not to approach new vintages with too many pre-conceived ideas. That said, there's some good reads on the new vintage here: The Standish Wine Company (A Must Read) & here: The 2018 Standish Collection - Weekly Highlights | The Vinorium that may help direct you if you're curious?

Just got an email for this one https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_MYSTERY454/under-wraps-margaret-river-chardonnay-2012

I think it's the Xanadu Reserve Chardonnay 2012 which is also listed on the DM website as sold out.

Has anyone tried it before? How does it compare to a Leeuwin Art Series?

I wasn't previously a big Chardonnay fan but I have really gotten into Leeuwin Art Series' Chardonnay over the past 12 months (and have had a fair bit of the 2011 and 2016 vintages).
Huon Hooke Review 2012
Light, bright yellow hue and a discreet, reserved aroma with balanced nutty, creamy lees and beeswax, lemon and grapefruit citrus notes. These citrus flavours are very intense in the mouth, where the wine is balanced and savoury, with a clean, dry finish and lean - almost sinewy - texture. Very good. 94 points

if you do buy remember to use gift card and CR/SB. Never tried but let me know what you think

It is Xanadu Reserve. My order arrived a couple of days ago. Plan on drinking one of the bottles on Saturday night, can update then.
