Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

When visiting VC Elsternwick Manager Sam told me these CELLAR SALES will continue through til June 30 or while stocks last - he is placing an order on this Thu Jun 18 and if I want more of any item he will place Order and if stock still in warehouse they should be supplied. Anybody wanting to have a lash then just trot along to your closest VC and try it out.

Hi all, I've just started getting into wine, so am joining this thread!

This morning I placed an order with Wine Direct who are having their "End of Wine-ancial Year Sale": Choose 12 or more bottles from the single bottle range (excluding French Champagne) and you'll get 30% off with the use of the code: 30WINE

That's 30% off sale prices, where applicable.

I had a look online and for the store that was showing as having it in stock, was still listed online with the original price (this is the Nebu).
Called and they confirmed the $29.99 price. Looks like the online price has not been "updated".
They are $96.10 at BWS.

Also on BWS clearance, Grant Burge Meschach, $148.50 (save $49.50).

The VC I got Nebu from said it has been discounted for a while but still not very popular, probably because the 2016 vintage wasn’t rated too highly. For $30 I was happy to get few bottles but don’t expect it to be as impressive as Shadrach and Meshach which are also often heavily discounted.

Mersarch? or did you mean Shadrach?

Shadrach went for $35 at DM (under wraps) and $40 at FC during the recent clearance sale. Meshach was $65 at DM.

I hope that's sarcasm lost in text there... The 2010 vintage is frequently a DMs under wraps product @ $65.
Yes it was. Forgot the laughing emoji 😂
I've missed out in the past and will try and keep an eye out for the next one.
On the DM site, there is stock at the regular price so chances are the under wraps stock will come up again.

Do you all think the 2010 Meshach is still a good deal at $65?

Personally Yes - 2010 being a great year. It also doubles up as a pretty great Present for someone.

Had this one earlier in the week - its a Sorby Adams 2019 Jazz Pinot Rose - pretty great at $9.90 - very quaffable

Objectively, Yep.
Old vines, basket pressed, 18 months in 60% new barrels, 10 years of storage costs.
Subjectively, probably.
The market for Meshach acts the complete opposite to its comparable neighbour Rockfords BP. Where the cellardoor price of Meshach is high, rockfords is comparatively cheap. In the secondary markets, the Meshach tanks while rockfords rockets. This is just a function of supply and demand, but given how fast it goes "out of stock" @ $65, its considered by many to be good value.

Thanks mate, gee never knew underwraps were that great of a deal.

Let's not beat around the bush here. The only reason it seems like a great deal is because Grant Burge have heavily inflated their prices, well beyond their standing in the market. When they don't sell at their ludicrous RRP, they get offloaded via Vinomofo / Dan Murphy secret deals. It's an increasingly common trick that wineries are playing on unsuspecting consumers.

If you like them big, decedent, oaky & unstructured, then it's probably worth a shot? Personally, I struggled to finish a glass of this one when tried recently, and I wasn't the only one - amongst a group of big Barossan drinkers no less.
