Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks - any suggestions appreciated. Can be challenging to determine based on the combination of hyperbole and Sam Kim reviews
Sorry, I'm not going to repeat here all the stuff that appears on my Forum unless it's in response to a particular deal someone posts here. Ask away and I'll give any info/opinion I have.

That’s fair - I’ll have a look if anything looks of interest

Sam Kim scores worse than JH. Take at least 2 points of eithers score to get closer to a real score or better still use Winefront

Haha - last time we debated scoring some said take 5 off JH. Others said scores we're better off going on community tasting notes and comments. I'm quite comfortable using ratings as part of the decision whether or not buy, but virtually ignoring Sam Kim's numbers.

The 2008 chardonnay could possibly be past it by now. The winefront guys are generally fairly conservative with their drinking windows but they only had it out to 2014.
Chardonnay is drinking beauifully. Mid-deep Gold, rich, lively, ripe citrus, hints of honey vanilla and almond. James Lance, the winemaker dropped the case here himself, (I'm in NE Melb.) He said the 2008 vintage has aged particularly well. Also mentioned the Pinots will hold up over 2 days, and will last in the cellar for some time, but why? PS Mea Culpa - Price is less than new vintage, not half.

Helen & Joeys used to be a staple from Vinomofo a few years back, I haven’t had any of their wines for a while but they have put together some discounted mixed packs which I believe are decent value at 40% off cellar door price, which is about the price they used to sell for in mof_ black market. From memory their Cab Sauv was a nice wine. I’ve ordered a case of mixed reds.

Has anyone successfully called CM to "split" 6 packs or buy quantities of wine not listed online?
eg. only wanting to buy 2 bottles of a Penfolds 6pk.
Got a $50 voucher that I want to see if I can get good value from.

This is very true. VM is not what it used to be, not even close. Quality and value significantly reduced, RRP mostly inflated so discounts are much less than advertised. Also, I would be very suspicious of any Aussie wine where SK is the main reviewer. Good bargains can still be found but they are few and far between.

If anyone is interested: my two Amex cards (Qantas Ultimate and Platinum Charge) both have offers for Lathwaite's - spend $150 get $50 back.
I was just looking at this before. They currently have the Kilikanoon Testament Shiraz 2018 for $135/6 pack. If you add a couple of bottles of beer with the cashback, you are essentially getting the 6 pack and two bottles of beer for $100. Has anyone here had the Testament before? I've had some good Kilikanoon's before but never tried this one.

I'm not familiar with this wine, but with regards to the offer I have a couple of thoughts/questions:

1) Don't forget to factor in postage costs to the minimum spend of $150. For me this is $9.99.
2) I see there is a 10% discount on your first order for people that haven't signed up with them before.
3) Anyone know if they sell gift cards that you can combine on a future order? [I assume the gift card will trigger the AMEX cash back]
