Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Thanks paddywide. Slight variation on the code worked for me.
I keyboard mashed 5 digits and it worked first attempt. Suspect they sent out ALOT of sms's. Apologies out to the mystery recipient whose code I've stolen! Was $9 delivery, so $21.50 a bottle. seems like a decent deal.

Just did the same trick - hopefully it is a goodie! worth the risk at that price

Interestingly its very hard to find info about the 2017 online - the 2013 they have as an out of stock wine on their website, and you can find reviews etc (halliday, wine showcase), but nothing for the 2017. Wondering if perhaps this was bottled for a specific purpose i.e. export or airline lounges etc. hence the offloading of stock?

Very interesting indeed. I hope this is an ok wine.
I saw old thread VM used to offload the 2006 and 2013 for$30. Some people love it and some don't.

So this secret deal even better.
I might jump on this and hope it is worth it with cellaring.

Interestingly I see an old VM notes of 2006 vintage that it was aged on French oak for 5 years before bottling. It was $100rrp
Obviously if this is 2017 - no longer 5 years Oak. Now it is $180 rrp.

Vivino had great rating though. Average ppl paid for $126.20 a bottle

Thank you guys! But I bought too much wines now 😂

Looks like Jacquart now available through Kemenys at $39.95, not including shipping.

Just called about an order I placed for this earlier this morning and was told they sold out within a couple of minutes so they’ve had to order more in. Will be interesting to see what actually comes

Not a sale in your traditional sense but some very good value wines are selling through what looks may be their last ever vintage (for those looking to collect):

- Dukes Magpie Hill Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 $32.95
...or 180 a case direct from winery.

- Marius email circulated for members ( Penultimate year for straight shiraz last vintage for the rest)

I'm also on board for a 6 pack of the twisted trunk. For $20/bottle + postage, feels like this is definitely at the right end of the risk-reward scale!

for those not members, Auswine have/had them

Cheers for the heads up... worth a roll of the dice! Don’t forget to run it through cash rewards for a bonus $7 cashback

Noticed that Get Wines Direct are also selling Glen Eldon Dry Bore Shiraz for $15/bottle, usually sold for $35 on their website.

Interested to hear from those with more knowledge than me - what's the usual driver for such clearences? Cash flow? Need to clear space for a new vintage?

Sometimes seems too good to be true, but guess there has to be some driver for moving stock at almost 90% off their listed price?

2016 SuperUco Calcáreo de Granito de Gualta Malbec - WA(LG)95, V(ST)94 - $28.99/$29.99 @ My Wine Guy (less $30 voucher)

also back in stock at MWG:
Comando G La Bruja de Rozas Garnacha 2018 - GW96 - $39.99 @ European Wine Store (price-match @ My Wine Guy)
this is meant to be the best release yet (alongside the 2016) of the entry level wine of one of Spain's top producers

Glen Eldon attempted to kick start a direct wine club with attractive offers over the period 2011-2013, but it never really gained traction as the regular prices were charged again for the Old Vine and Twisted Trunk levels. The last Dry Bore I bought was 2009 vintage at $16, some Old Vine series from 2010 at $30. Vinomofo has had some GE wines, including Twisted Trunk 2013 @ $39 in August 2018 and some of the Old Vine series in 2018 also. GWD had had Dry Bore previously too.
I drank my last Old Vine Shiraz Grenache 2010 last week, good wine, Dry Bore 2009 all gone long ago.

Vintage 2017 was a cool year, I have no idea what the Glen Eldon wines from that vintage might be like. The last vintage on Wine Companion is 2015 (92), 2014 (94), 2013 (86), 2012 (95).

If you like St Hallett Blockhead (which I do) you'll like the GE Dry Bore. Full bodied shiraz with nice fruit flavours. Great mid week drink. The twisted trunk which was sold out almost immediately just has a bit more oak and will last a few more years. Like a St Hallett Blackwell to a Blockhead.

I do like the Blackwell!
When you say sold out immediately, it was still available at approx 2pm today.
Or did you mean in a different sale?

Would be a shame if this one was the 2013 being cleared out. I assume it's the '17. Funnily, Vivino rates both about the same... Halliday is but one guy I suppose

Combination of hugely inflated RRP and need for cashflow in these testing times with no restaurant or cellar door sales?
