Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Apparently it's unavailable

Yes, I just went to checkout and the Clarendon Hills then shows "unavailable for delivery" to me in Qld - but the Thompson Estate is. Maybe the Clarendon is available in other places??

Damn! I actually really like a good heavy bottle and a cork :)

And sorry to all for posting something unavailable - I really hate our Dans online site :/

Aloha all,

just looking for any comments on the following under-wraps from Dans:

I think this is the Clarendon Hills Brookman - most likely overpriced at the RRP of $50, but probably a good drop for $12.90? This 2012 vintage got a JH 92.
This is the Clarendon Hills. There was a bad vintage reported extensively on AFF. But I cannot recall exactly which one that was - but probably not the 2012 CS.

I ordered 4 cases of this earlier today. I make it around $11.80 a bottle delivered with the usual discounts.

So it works in NSW? Well done!

I could probably set up a Parcel Collect address just over the border, but seeing the last guy who ventured across the border (to buy a fishing rod) ended up with $4000 in Covid fines, and now has to leave his car there, AND must buy an airline ticket to reenter Qld, AND then pay for and endure 2 weeks quarantine, I might just give up on that bargain tipple. The world (of wine) is a big place :)

I think this is the Thompson Estate - again probably ok for the $9.90 vs the RRP of $50? I think this is served in QF business. JH93 for this 2016 vintage (and JH96 for 2014, and JH95 for 2017)

Am I correct in identifying these? And would people agree that they are good value?
I have the Thompson Estate 2014, which i quite enjoyed. Tempted to grab the 2016... Almost sounds to cheap? 🤔

This is a detail I just do not get. Why a Dans online item is available in NSW but not QLD. Bugger. :(

Because Dan's use regional delivery centres as far as I can tell. and if it's not in your centre you're SOL
It's also odd they won't allow you to choose a delivery item as click and collect and have them just drop it at your local store.

Managed to snag 2 bottles of the Brookman along with half a dozen thompson on the Gold coast just now. but they were the last 2 bottles it seems - had to drop down from the half a dozen I wanted.

I agree. Around $9 a bottle with the usual discount.

Gone back for another 4 cases.

From what I can see it's a Halliday 93pt. Drink to 2031. RRP $50.

If HokitikaGold is correct about it being served in Qantas business class then it's quite possibly been offloaded as excess stock at auction. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen a Dan's members deal show up after a pallet load of stock was auctioned through Grays

If it’s any consolation, I’m in NSW and can get them into my basket, but then not available for delivery at checkout.
Can anyone recommend any other Under Wraps bargains for the free delivery period?

Could be. But may be confused with the Cabernet Merlot? Qantas wines have also sold this at one stage:

I am sure it is a QF offerring - but things get murkier in the detail - it seems in the case of the Thompson Estate the quoted reviews (tasting notes) get a bit muddled with respect to vintage. In any case:

Four cases! You thirsty?

He just knows a bargain, and has more cellaring capacity than I do. I am jealous.
I put three bottles down, four cases seems extreme, no disrespect of course - each to their own. It will be good value at $12.90 and I wish I could have grabbed a few more today at that price but wouldn't you get bored of it? I think the most I've got of any one bottle in my cellar is six of anything...
