Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Hey guys - non deal question - its the Wife's 30th this weekend and she loves a good Riesling & Semillon. I have a couple of goodies in the cellar, but am worried it might be too early to open. I have a 2014 Grosset Polish Hill & a 2007 Tyrell's Vat 1. Please let me know if you think either of these would be underdone on potential?
Drink the Sem, sit on the grosset, unless you're all into that face ripping acidity.

Bought this and the tax invoice states bottle instead of case though the title and description clearly says 12 bottles. Will definitely return and complain if only 1 bottle arrives. Anyone else ordered?
I ordered for a mate who did not get onto the DM Frenzy early enough - Invoice the same. It's clear enough to make them honour it I reckon - or at least keep the bottle and get a full refund through DM's 😂

Tyrrells give good recommendations about if they think wines are ready each year.

Enjoy.

My dozen ulithorne prospera arriving tomorrow. Hopefully didn't waste 100 bucks on cough wine.

I have enjoyed Ulithorne wines in the past, but they were always a ‘drink now’ style for me, so I steered clear of that one when it popped up because (and I may be wrong here) it had a few years of bottle age on it, was it 15 or 16 vintage?
They were a favourite on Vinomofo for a few years at $9 a bottle.

5 years according to Nick's for cellar.

Fair enough. I’m sure it would be fine, 5 years I always read as a drink now style. I was tempted as I had enjoyed most of their wines in the past.
perhaps should have just boomed on it rather than the accidental 2016 Pinot that scored very poorly that Ive ended up with 😂

Not familiar with the Riesling but I think that a Vat 1 2007 should be pretty good to drink now.

My observation is non wine enthusiast will like daily wine more than premium/aged wine. Most of my wife favourite wines are under $20. Hope your wine will enjoy your Tyrell's. I think Vat 1 is ready to drink. Certainly aging longer can gain "older" favour.

My experience of earlier vintage of Ulithorne Familia https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ..._GXeNUwDl6vYgp7sXG8aAg5bEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds was basically what's all the fuss about, wrong thread I know, but it came through VM, quite underwhelmed and sent it back but YMMV....

I ordered Familia 16 and Pyrenees estate red 16 at the same time, Pyrenees wins. Familia is thinner and has less aging ability than Pyrenees.

The St Hallett Blackwell half bottles are on special at Cellar One for $13.25 per bottle or $11.58 if you have a new referral. Full size bottles are $26.50 (or $23.17 after referral), which is also decent if you didn't get the $15 price error from LL a few weeks back. (A mod has informed me there is a separate post for referrals if you haven't already joined.)
