Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

the ringbolt 18s were surprisingly really good for a young wine. Not one you can keep beyond 5 years IMO. At $12 is amazing. Dunno the vintage but most likely 19s. If only you could find the vintage. No knowing the vintage is part of the reason I've never bought from BB before.

I ordered a couple of weeks ago and got 17s (along with wynns black 15. Jackpot!!)

Where is this from? Still available?
Boozebud.

It appears to be still available, but not as good of a deal as yesterday.

The list price is $30/btl. Boozebud running buy 1 get 1 free. In addition, they had extra 10% off for buying 4 bottles yesterday.

So buying 4+4 is a sweet spot. It'll total to $120 + shipping. If you sign up as new customer, you'll get extra 10% off and free shipping.

yesterday, CR was running 20% cash back to sweeten the deal. I think it's 6% now for existing and 10% for new customer.

Also at First Choice - Wolf Blass Heritage Release Shiraz Cab Magnum $20 (was $80) plenty of stock online and in stores. Not sure where this fits within their range but at $10/750mL I will give it a go

Wolf Blass Heritage Release Shiraz Cab Magnum back down to $20. No delivery available in NSW, there are a handful of bottles in stock at Brookvale and Concord stores only.

A few Kiwi Pinots on sale at LiquorLand

Robinsons Marlborough Pinot Noir $16 reduced to $5
Curious Kiwi Pinot Noir $15 reduced to $5
Chalkboard Central Otago Pinot Noir $14 reduced to $5

I could only find the Chalkboard in stock anywhere near me. Someone might have better luck with the others

Hey gurus, any thoughts on Maverick Trial Hill Eden Valley Shiraz 2018 ?
I believe it is sold by them as a secret deal here Mystery EV186 Premium Eden Valley Shiraz 2018 - Mystery Wine

Even thought the min is 6 bottles - they have a less than a dozen $10 surcharge plus shipping making you to buy 12.
So thought would check before I pull a trigger unless somebody in Sydney/East wanna split a dozen?
I don't think those are the same wine. If the mystery buy picture is correct and the label has just been obscured then the closure is completely different. Also the drink by/cellaring dates don't match

First appeared on my Forum January 9th 2021, two buyers have reported being happy with the wine, no negative reports. It is apparently quite a savoury style rather than overtly fruit-driven and needs a bit of air time to show it's best.

@redbigot Thank you for the info

They also (highly likely) have this $50 Barossa shiraz Maverick Barossa Shiraz 2019 for $16 as a secret deal Mystery BV193 Barossa Valley Shiraz 2019 - Mystery Wine
Sam Kim 95 points rating and noone else is a warning sign to me. Seems it is a lighter more elegant style.
Can't find tasting notes even on the Maverick website. What is known about the winery? It sounds similar to Curtis model of overinflated retail prices and selling at a deep discount.

Maverick have appeared on Vinomofo periodically since 2014, not so much recently, JD Cellars, Winestar, Dan Murphy, TWC, Cellarmasters, Wine Market etc, often at the cheaper Twins level, but also periodically the upper level wines at half to a third of the "RRP". I've bought a few, not many as the upper levels are still mostly cork sealed.
Recent/Current Winestar Maverick offerings are BV186, BV187, BV171, BV188 (new label, "made to discount" IMO), EV162, EV185, EV186, BV193 is another new label for them, there may be others.

I bought some of the recent deals from JD, $70 a bottle. I'm hoping it's good, live and learn tho! I tend to stay away from these labels which are constantly discounted.
I generally go by a JH rating.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Sidewoods?
