Anyone have a $100 off CM code?

24 hours only Lindemans Pyrus Coonawarra Trio Cabernet Blend 2013 x6
$210.00

HI all, picked this up from the OzBargain deal forum the MOCU shop is shutting down (apparently owned by Lion?). Anyways the offer is beer (though stocks are vanishing quickly) but they have a wine tab as well and everything is 50% off and delivery is free over 50$ to metro...most beer is gone (though i got a couple of 6packs) but I picked up a case of 6 Pinot from Oregon that looks good and at 50% off with delivery couldn't go wrong. They have about 5 pinots, 2 rose, a riesling and a merlot.

Great find & thanks for the heads up. :)
Snapped up 4x Oregon Pinot Packs. Really enjoyed the one I got through VM this year. Just managed to hit place order before self-restraint kicked in.

Were those the Wine and Truffle Co Oregon Pinots?

Yes indeed. So good I went back for seconds. Haven't gone for their Yarra product, but the Oregon one was kind of made to order.
We've drunk the Pinot it's based on (Ponzi) which is delicious; I was eyeing off the Wine and Truffle Co but didnt quite get around to it.

I was tempted to buy this when I saw it for sale. Six months later, someone brought it to my wine groups tasting for the Pinot Noir theme. Had it double blind. Actually didn't think it was that good and was happy I hadn't purchased any. However, this is exactly what is brilliant about wine...how different people like different things :)

Always good to taste a new wine for the first time, especially when it's a bargain. Tried the Reynella Shiraz from the recent Cellarmasters deal tonight. For c$4.50 a bottle it's certainly good value!

I’m enjoying some of this right now, I agree that at the price paid it is good value

Closing Monday - 4 Oregon Pinots still available 50% off, extra $15 off with MOCTWEL15. They provided a 15% off code 1 day later. Creative minds may place a small first order & crank it up for a second?

Warning.

Bought a doz (for about $180 I think) of McWilliams unlabeled "secret selection" 2013 cab sav...."was $45/bottle". Bought from their website 3 weeks ago but only just picked it up from the post office this week. It's got "Barwang 2013 SV CAB SAV UL" on the carton and a Barwang labeled stelvin cap on each bottle. I emailed Mcwilliams, asking if they sent the right wine. No reply yet.

Ripped off I think.

SV = single vineyard = Barwang Vineyard (not to be confused with the Barwang brand)

JD Cellars' latest red wine ransom:

Dear Friends,

I'm holding this South Australian Shiraz for RANSOM...
with a Buy now/Pay later offer scheduled for delivery towards the end of January 2018 (giving you time to come back from the holidays and hit the ground running)!

A short-and-sweet deal held hostage in anonymity (it's so good I'm not even allowed to reveal it's vintage). Just trust that I have (nor would) ever, let you down my friends...my reputation rests upon it.

Langtons 'Excellent' Classification
(if do your homework...you'll discover this is a big clue)!

"...the most savoury, and in some ways, the most refined, of the (X) super-premium shiraz releases." 96 Points Anon

"Searingly intense..." 95 Points Anon

To protect the brand, this big name South Australian Shiraz is heavily policed in cyberspace, and watched with a hawk's eye in the discount market (even to my closed database) stopping me from disclosing its identity!

The wine has a very loyal following (over many years) with a lengthy/established track record of enjoyment. Therefore they refused to let me sell this at under $65 if I revealed its name.

Why?

The lowest price I can find (from even the most extreme discounters) is $65-$70...with some getting into the high $80's.

James Halliday has never rated it less than 90 points in over
15 years. It has a Langtons 'Excellent' Classification,
is a Multi-Award Winner, and is the 'flagship' wine from a
renowned South Australian Estate.

What more I can tell you?

Nothing.

This wine has never been offered before as a RANSOM.

It is not...a 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014 or 2015 vintage.

Remember...This is the exact same wine (cap, label and juice) as what's sitting on the retail shelf/cellar door for up to $80+.

...

Best I can guess is... Kilikanoon Oracle?? Any better guesses?

Yep, it's the Halliday review of the 2013 Oracle that's quoted.

From the estate Golden Hillside and Mt Surmon Vineyards. All of Kevin Mitchell's cellaring recommendations are very short, this the longest with a 12-year frame. This is the most savoury, and in some ways, the most refined, of the '13 super-premium shiraz releases. It brings red, purple and black fruits into the fray, the tannins polished, the French oak a positive, yet balanced and integrated.

hello! Im doing a spot of last minute wine shopping, Dans have Sorby Adams 'The Thing' for $50 as a secret selection. I would love any advice on whether it's worth the money (it's $150 pb on shelf) also would a 2014 vintage be way too young to drink now?
Thanks in advance!

$50 for this wine is a fair price. It can be had at this price via Grays or even Dan's inside some of their package deals. So the $50 price now promoted by Dan's really isn't anything unusual.

The RRP price of $145+ is not reasonable for this wine. In my view the wine should normally fit in the $50 to $60 RRP range. And given the heavy level of discounting for wine that we have come to expect that means we probably would expect to pay around $20 a bottle for this wine.

2014 is way too young to drink. I've tasted the 2010. It's OK. Not outstanding and I'd be very disappointed to have paid more than $50 for it.

I wouldn't buy at the $50 price.

Hi Dr Ralph. Thanks so much for your advice, it's really appreciated & prompted a swift removal of the item from my cart!
