Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Are any of these deals good? I guess I should just listen, and buy what others are buying from here! I just have a feeling alot of the deals aren't that great from most these wine resellers.

Are there any, which people trust over others?

Can anyone recommend a good Wine Education book? I was going to do a course, but I wouldn't mind something to read. Thanks

Anyone confirm what it is, or if it's worth it? I have a $30 voucher I wanna use with the website.

did you miss my reply to your earlier post?

I find the only thing they seem to email discounts about are the very bottom of the range stuff.

your very bottom of the range would seem to be different to mine :)

Fair call. This promo actually has good stuff. To be honest I didn't even even open this email based on too much rubbish in previous ones.

Got a bottle of this on Shopback:

I think it is the Jim Barry Benbournie.

However for the first time my Shopback only tracked at 12% of the purchase price and not the retail price?

For those interested in Jim Barry wines and wanting to support the (I believe still family owned) winery directly they are 20% off sitewide directly, including quite a few older examples.

Get Wines Direct have 'free' DRAYTONS FAMILY BELLEVUE HERITAGE GRAND RESERVE HUNTER VALLEY SEMILLON with $100 spend with Freesemillon. Notional RRP is nonsense, but they have previously offered straight dozens for $80 which is a very good deal in itself.
Orders must be 12 - 15 bottles, so snap up 1 - 3 of their superior drops, mine came to $150 including Freight, so effectively got the top ups for $70.
Note, last time they did this they sold out the Semillon & offered a similar deal with the Chardonnay a few days later. Alas no Moet to reach the $threshold this time, but plenty of options depending on your taste. Oh, and the code is single use only 😁

Have you had the sem before? Any good? Not sure how it can retail at $90 per bottle then free in a dozen?!

I can't really find anything decent, a couple are the same as Dan's but the rest are more expensive. Most the specials, I've never heard of.

Can anyone recommend 3, or 12? A free dozen sounds good!

Hi all. Yes the Semillon is very good for the $80/dozen. As I said before, ignore the 'rrp' & consider it is worth $80. 😇
If you subtract that $80, maybe from their Fine & rare selection:
St Hallett Old Block Barossa Shiraz 2012 or Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec 2012 both @ $119.99 = ~$39.99 though this calculation is only for 1 bottle.
Or Penfolds Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2016 or Vollereaux Champagne Cuvee Marguerite Brut each @$99.99 = ~$19.99 plus whatever else you may be tempted to sample.
Or anything else that takes you to the $100 spend in 1 - 3 or 12 bottles eg a mixed dozen.
It only 'works' if you buy the minimum spend & just do the simple subtraction/mental gymnastics. You won't save more by buying more, just play the deal & you can get something good that you might not otherwise try.

Interesting offer. There's also 5.6% from Cashrewards.

I went for it. Came to $138 with delivery. I don't drink a great deal of white wine, however, always need some bottles for cooking so I figured this was an opportunity to stock up.
The way I look at it, pick up 13 bottles of wine at approx 10 bucks each. One of them just happens to be be the St Hallett Old Block Shiraz 2012. I've had the 2014 and loved it. The 2012 reviews would suggest it is a better vintage.

Vollereaux Champagne Cuvee Marguerite Brut each @$99.99

Would this pass for $100 min spend? After reading the reviews on this, actually looks like a great buy! Very highly rated!

For fans of aged Riesling, I've recently picked up 2x six packs of Ladbroke Grove Paddington Estate 2011 (the name is an unfortunate reminder if you are from the UK) from Grays for $19ea. With fees it works out to be <$6 bottle and its drinking really well - almost like a Chardonnay to me. They seem to do one pack at a time but it's been there for a month so don't get into a bidding war with anyone.

Hi, agreed I went for this too. But no, <$100, I added a Pinot noir, but whatever works for you. I would suggest stick to the fine & rare list (real products, nod to #Redbigot) & take a considered or speculative punt. I looked at the Tio Pepe Sherry 750ml too @ $34.99 as an out there option. If they do the Chardonnay option as well ...
