2013 Wynn's Black Label CabSav is the pick - $53 at my local Dan's. Chianti also seems to be a $25 bottle, Italian import but winery owned by Bettinger/TWE.
Other four are $10-15 bottles I think.
These 10 from Dan’s for $87 - pretty happy!

30% off woolworth member + 20% cashreward = almost half price
the wine list is suggested by an Italian wholesaler. he said avoid Zonin

The 2018 Octtava shiraz that you got and tasted to me looks like a Victorian Shiraz. I would totally understand your comments re it being light and almost like Pinot Noir being a cold climate shiraz.

Now the one that I got is 1606471418597.png

Barossa Shiraz - so hopefully it is more fruit driven and fuller bodied. It is matured in French oak so I would imagine would not be huge bodied or mega bold. The wife being a musician loved the label so I only got 6 of them. Can't imagine it being undrinkable but will wait and see what its like. Will report back!

My bottles of Jim Barry Benbournie had heaps of dust all over the bottles and dirt marks on the labels when they came last week. They also had those god awful red cellar release stickers on them (I wish they didn't put these on, they look so tacky and shred to buggery when you try to peel them off). Their storage of the cellar release gear must be terrible but I guess you have to live with that when you're paying basement prices.
My ulithorne bottles had layers of dust and spider webs.

I'm well aware of the different state of origin etc but having sampled a lot of Victorian reds (I'm a Warrabilla wine club member for example) I can honestly say that I have never had a shiraz from anywhere in this fair land that was translucent and closer to a rosé than this, unfortunately the palate was an equal match, lightweight and one-dimensional, if this is an example of her wine-making skills then I'm not a fan but YMMV....(hopefully Barossan fruit will prevail)

In that case, I probably got a dud!

My strategy was to add 50 cases to my cart and see if they had high stock, which I would assume are the lower end wines available. When there were only a few cases of a box, I purchased that one. No idea if it works given I didn't use this system last time. Will report back on success rate.

Loot from $125 mixed case. Either my strategy (see quote) worked or I was super lucky. Pretty happy with this!
