Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I never realised how popular Mollydooker was, I mean even at $47 it's quite alot for wine and it's sold out state wide. It's like someone has driven hours in every direction to buy all
GWD offers a free delivery for a limited time now. Yalumba deal just got better at $16.50 a bottle
Damm, that's rough! Do you think they'd refund delivery?

Does BWS let a friend pick up your order for you if you request?

that's a bit annoying. I was trying to figure out how to apply the $40 welcome code too but there's no option via the secret cellar page

What I did, I cancelled the original order and was going just re-order it (trick I learned when rebooking Mollydooker at BWS earlier this week. A bit of dicking around but I did it in the spirit of this thread so I could hold my head high here!

I think I did mention to you earlier to grab Mollydooker while the opportunity was there if you were really keen on it.

I'm not fussed, to be honest, it seems the clearance sections across have been emptied which is a little bizarre.

The issue when cancellations, does it go straight back up via BWS website? I assume so, so easy done.

Did you cancel the Yulumba already? I checked, looks like I'd have to call.

I'm not fussed, there's good options at that price point and I've found much better buys. To be honest, it seems the clearance sections across have been emptied which is a little bizarre.
I tend to choose what I buy a bit differently to you. I know pretty much what I want and enjoy and have a list. Then I zero in on those wines at whatever best price point rather than look for substitutes or other "good" options at that price point - but each to his own.

For example @kevviek probably would not buy Mollydooker for a tenner as he doesn't like it.

I had to call them up and cancel it - then about 20-30 min later it goes back in stock to be repurchased. That was my experience with BWS.

Doesn't look like you can cancel online?
No, I could not find an option to cancel it online. Furthermore the cancelation does not show up - I was told it would be processed on Monday

I do understand where you're coming from, and please note that most people here drink quite a bit more than me. I haven't even had a glass of wine in a month, and I'm riding solo so my biggest issue is making a bottle stay fresh as I tend to forget and then waste half a bottle!

I don't have many favorites, as I don't drink enough to know what I love yet.
I need to stick to my budget, I'm like a broken record 🤣.

Anyways, I'm may ring up and cancel my order to save $9! Thanks for the heads up!

Funny, while I was reading the thread GWD called me to ask about further purchases. "How convenient I said, I was just about to ring and cancel my order from yesterday" :-)

For somebody who hasn't had a glass in a month -you sure buy a lot of wine or seem to do. I also fly solo as my wife stopped drinking wine as she prepares for a comp. I do still drink upto half a bottle in the evening, then I vacuum pump it and store in the fridge. The next day I remove the bottle about 3 hours before consuming while leaving the vacuum seal on. Then before drinking I remove the vac seal and it is (almost) as good as the night before. Can be repeated. That is my technique and I am sure others have their own.

You live within an hour drive of the best vineyards in Australia - instead of chasing these bargains and driving around bottle shops - take a drive out and taste some wines! That is how you would develop your penchants for various wines and styles.

Just my 2 mexican pesos worth.

I need to find a vaccum pump, and try this method. Original bottle, or use a half bottle?

I definitely buy way too much, and at the moment I don't spend much money so wine has taken my focus. I'm sure there will be weeks, or months I don't spend much coming up tho. Im building soon, so I'll have no choice but to stick to budget.

Yeah, I know but I work weekends. Everyone I know works during the week, so wine tasting alone doesn't seem that appealing. I'm keeping tabs on local businesses who do wine tastings during the week tho, I subscribed to multiple local stores.

I can imagine their sales meeting

Manager: "So Jonesy, how many cases of plonk have you moved today?"
Jonesy: "Ummm... well... <cough cough> .. minus one case"

I use the vacuvin pump and stoppers. Some stoppers aren't as effective as others (and you go to drink your nice still fresh wine to find it hasn't been sealed for a few days) but these are nice soft rubber and available in many shops. Wine stays perfect for some time, and drinkable for several weeks.

Hmm. Signature is 14.5%.
How will we ever know what this wine was? I've got a dozen on way as I love Signature, but can't help think this cld have be something made for export. Where did it say Halliday 96pt? I only saw Hallidatly 5 star winery...

Once you receive the delivery open one bottle, if it’s nice and tastes similar to Signature you had previously keep the rest. If not, return for full refund. Easy :)

The SMS said the winery was consistently rated up to JH96. I don't think there was any reference to the actual wine on offer receiving that rating.

The extra saving tipped me over the edge. My meagre wine fridge is already full and I’m sure there’s more deals just around the corner.
