Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

I agree with the others re the hunter valley trip. Petersons is great, piggs peake is great (and has one of the cutest winery dogs), and Saddlers Creek is another of my favs.

For anyone interested I have a 20% off code for Redman (and free shipping over $250). Not sure if its single use or not but I dont think so. PM if you want it.

If they are open I would recommend Lakes Folly. They only make 2 wines. A Chardonnay and a Cabernet blend, which are both outstanding. But they are $$$. Mount pleasant is the same. Great wines but everything has gone north in price.

Briar Ridge make solid wines all round and if you like Chardonnay Leogate is reliable. Reasonably priced.
Some good recommendations here! 👍 I would add Tyrrell’s (premium tasting is fantastic) and Tinklers for a boutique winery that make great wines at a reasonable price.

Thanks tmdl. To be honest, I couldn't find much that was interesting even with the discount. However, I did get myself a few bottles of Standish The Schubert Theorem for $116 a bottle delivered. The Heirloom McLaren Vale Shiraz for $28 a bottle (and buying 18,000 points for 1.87 c/pt) interested me slightly (but you must buy 12 bottles). I was also tempted by the Coriole Willunga for $71.20.

But there are no absolute bargains. I grabbed the Schubert because I rarely see it discounted.

Wynns black label Cabernet at $24/btl is a bargain in my books.

Yes, I have read about that before.
So its no longer what it once was and best to give it a pass?
The discounted price is probably what it’s really worth then?
FAMILY20 coupon will bring the price down to $35.

Very tempting price. I wish that we had more information of 2016 Empyrean

Yeah that is a good price. But I guess I see it for around that price quite often (eg BWS has had it for $22.50, less cashback). I've accumulated a fair bit of BL cabernet, so I tend to overlook it these days. Also, perhaps an unpopular opinion (I know there is lots of love for it here) but I think it is probably only worth around $25. While I like it, I haven't had a bottle of BL cab that has ever blown me away.

On the topic of empyreans;
99.99% sure this is the 2010 emp:

At 49.99$ i think this is the best price it'll ever be at this stage if anyone is still interested in it. Also keep in mind there is a 00.01% chance i'm wrong and its not the empyrean... if it's not i'll be banging my head against the wall in a week when it pops in.

Was first offered on Winestar with this CW101 code on January 26 2023 for the ambitious price of $70, now offered again at a reduced price.
