Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

My tracking for this wine just stated "Item damaged, return to sender." after being held up at a local post office
After seeing the damaged return I ordered a 6-pack of each of the 2022 and 2021 and got a refund for the damaged 2022 pack. They arrived today, taped together. I'll probably sample them both tonight via Coravin.

Would be very interested in your findings. You'd think that 2021 should be superior but who knows!

My transaction appeared as "WINERY CELLAR DOOR +61130094634 036" so I doubt it.
I put through the order anyway so we'll see. From what I've read the invoice for the order will be visible in your main Langton's account so if anything I'll use that to lodge an enquiry for the missing cashback. There's no T&C's stating that Langton's private sales are excluded.

Tried the 2022. I would feel very let down if i paid $150 at cellar door for it for sure. Nothing special with an alcoholic burn on the nose. Nice heavy bottles though

Very interesting, two quite different styles of Shiraz.

The 2021 has a lighter and more advanced colour and development than you would expect from the 1 year difference. It's savoury and mellowing rather than fruit driven and the acid pokes out a little. Despite the high a/v (15.5%) it isn't showing any signs of over-ripe fruit. Other than that, it's a decent $15 ready to go drink of no great distinction.

The 2022 has better, denser colour, nice fruit and oak on the nose, nicely ripe fruit on the palate, no signs of prunes or portiness, fresh and with good tannin structure, better balance than the 2021.

After tasting the two samples, the better half preferred the 2022 and I extracted the cork and was very surprised it was the cheap agglomerate style with just a thin layer of proper cork at each end. Astounding that a cork like that would be used on a supposedly premium wine.

Happy to drink these at the delivered price, but not going back for more, especially after seeing that cork on the 2022. I can't tell if the 2021 has a similar cork or not.

Caveat: I'm not fussed by a bit of alcohol warmth and I don't find it a negative feature on either of these, your experience may be different.

Update: The 2022 is currently shown as sold out, 2021 still available.

On day 2 I found the 2022 to be a lot more elegant in style. Personally prefer day 1 but I do like my whisky above 50% ABV. The 2021 arrived today which will be opened on Friday.

CD.co's 12 Days of Xmas sales a little uninspiring. Certainly haven't excited anyone here. Even the '08 Show Sparkling Shiraz Wildcard a bit meh. Thoughts? Better still to come? People a bit 'sale' fatigued/done their dosh already?

AP inform me they're delivering a box today (expected max 38) 🫠🙄

That's the least of your worries with heat. I'm much more concerned about wine sitting in the back of a large truck heading from whichever city the warehouse is in to Perth (or whatever location in Australia you live in).
