Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Drat! I missed the carpe diem - I didn't buy more wine and therefore I win!
I had a cart filled from the private sale the day before - interesting some items in Carpe Diem were cheaper, but I stuck with it because I wanted the Wolf Blass Platinum.
The $18.50 delivery takes the shine off a bit…

Yes, I saw different prices for the same wine in different sales.
I experimented & observed that the carts were separate & both subject to delivery fees. So I accepted a higher price on one item in the sake containing others that I really wanted that came to less than an extra $18.50 delivery cist

Carpe diem still seems to be up although not the range of yesterday

I’m not a bit red drinker, but stumbling across this thread and the link, I couldn’t help but notice the 1847 WINERY First Pick Shiraz, Barossa Valley 2020 reduced from $480 to $50. It retails elsewhere about $480, so I’m wondering if this is a steal?

You'll find this wine on multiple sites for a similar discounted price over the past couple of years.

1847/Ch Yaldara is one of a number of wineries whose marketing strategy is to set stupidly high RRP and then systematically sell at a fraction of that fanciful price, often as "mystery" wines, sometimes not. Sometimes they are a good deal at the low price, sometimes not even then.

Thanks, I figured it’d turn out to be something like that.

I would probably try to avoid 2020 but if you can pick up 2018 (I picked them up on Langtons auctions and Carpe Diem for about $35-$40), it is actually a very decent wine. Whether it should be priced at as 4x Standish is debatable. Very debatable.
