Both Captain Halliday's and ChasingDaylight's meals were excellent.

Thanks for a good night Captain Halliday and ChasingDaylight. It was a pleasure to have dinner with you both.

Another good night gentlemen, thanks very much. My scallops pic was a shocker and I forgot to snap the steak.

Calling all DRW AFFers or those who fancy a visit... We're looking at April for another DRW catch up.

I'm in. Sadly it might be my first and last. I'm moving back down south in June.

It will be good to finally catch up. Looks like my next DRW trip will be the last week / weekend of April through to the first few days of May. Nothing booked yet though.

End of april/first weekend in May would be best for me if possible - I'm out of DRW on holiday as of 4 May.

Sounds like the beginning of another good night.

Captain Halliday - how would this suit you?

I'll be in DRW on this Saturday and Sunday. Probably won't have any spare time this trip. Back again 23/4-26/4. I'll have a couple of hours to kill on the 24th at this stage.

That's a few days too early for me - but if it suits the most people don't hold back.

My plans are not finalised yet but at this stage I think I will be flying up on Sunday 26th and out about Sunday 3rd May

I can do the 27, 28, 29 and 30th of April (Tuesday-Thursday nights).

My suggestions for venue are:

Moorish (although I know you all went their last time)
The Cav - which is really a pub but with a great kitchen - on Thursday nights they do (high quality) 2-4-1 rump steaks (it's really buy 2 or more get them all half price - which is $16.50). The rest of their menu is pretty good too.
Il Plato (Italian restaurant at the casino - which is limiting as it's not walking distance from CBD hotels)

But I'm really happy to go wherever.

If my dates in DRW are confirmed as currently expected all of these dates will work for me. I don't stay in the CBD so will have to travel wherever it ends up being and I am also happy to try anywhere.

The Qantas magazine in February, in the section of the Qantas magazine which talks about restaurants in all the capital cities, broke from it's tradition of spruiking either Char or Pee Wee's in Darwin and suggested a new restaurant in Nightcliff - www.pavoniaplace.com.au - I've not been but one of my colleagues (who has a very social better half so gets dragged everywhere) said it was very, very disappointing.

I'm happy to play restaurant roulette.

Despite being conveniently located stumbling distance from my place I haven't tried Pavonia Place. But I have heard hit-and-miss reviews.

Can I throw Pearl Café into the mix. It's only recently started dinner but I've heard good things. QFF points is just a bonus. The Pearl Darwin in Northern Territory - Restaurants

I've booked The Pearl for dinner tomorrow night to try it out. Mrs TripleB is coming up for the weekend and I can score brownie points for taking her somewhere she hasn't been before whilst earning QF miles and being the expert for the next AFF DRW meetup (which I will keep to myself).

I didn't even know it existed before the Capt's post - I don't often go down to that end of town.

Went to The Pearl last night. It is in the arcade near where the Vic Hotel used to be - opposite the Chinese dumpling place Steam Up - which incidentally is very good.

I thought that the food and service at The Pearl was sensational. It was easily the best meal I have ever had in Darwin. They had a 5 course degustation ($60) with 5 matching wines (additional $55) which was fantastic. The food was top quality and well done. The wines were quality and full glasses (not the half pours you usually get). It is very highly recommended.

Although for this very irregular drinker 5 full glasses of wine plus the two beers in the Novotel bar during happy hour before dinner had undesirable consequences ... which may have involved the dancefloor of Wisdom and a stop at the kebab shop on Mitchell street with the other drunks on the way home .

The only catch is that it is very intimate - low lighting - perfect for impressing a significant other but probably not the best venue for an AFF meetup.
