Booking Any Seat Awards, Business Saver, at the lowest points is only available on a Monday. If I book this, will I be able to change the flight date to Friday, where there are no Business Saver seats listed?

What do they say re change penalties in the fare rules which differ by origin/destination. If there is no seat class available the change may not be possible but there might also be a fee regardless.

Any change/cancel fees that may exist are available to read and understand during the on-line booking process before you commit. They can vary from none to several hundred dollars.

FWIW, I always take a .pdf print copy of these when I book for later reference as they may not always be easily available subsequently.

Another issue is that generally the cheaper ASA fares book into restricted/award fare classes which may not be available subsequently to change to. See this thread on how to ascertain the actual booking class before committing:

Fare rules state "
Date changes permitted at €100 per person per change to ticket, subject to a local service fee.
" However if there is no seat class (Business Saver) available for the date I wish to change to, then it will not be possible to change? In other words I can't redeem a seat for 180K points, the change to a day when there are only seats available at 700k points?

You may have to pay the fare difference, if booked already try the process online to see what the quote is, its not a commitment that sticks if you dont go all the way through the process.

I recently had 4 ASA seats booked for MELBOURNE-SYD-ULURU for 6th June. Could not travel on that date because of issues and rang QANTAS 2 days beforehand. I was told that I could :-

i) Cancel for no penalty
ii) store tickets for up to 12 months, or
iii) Change dates, asked for a date next week and they transferred...only cost was extra tax ( not sure why) of $ 17 x 4 = $ 68

I reckon these tickets are the way to go especially when booking a long way ahead, as I had. It's worth paying the extra points especially when they earn SC's and points as well.

Must compliment the FF people, they could not have been more helpful.

Keep flying QANTAS, we need them !!

Domestic J fares dont have the same onerous conditions on them as some overseas versions, which can have no change no refund clauses, something to keep in mind.
