YES transfers are free - it was me who mentioned the charge earlier - I was passing on info supplied to me from DJs reps - they were wrong.
No cap on earning - no cap on transfers to airline partners.
The fee to transfer is if you GIFT to someone else - $5 / 1,000pts - max 50K GIFTING pa.
You have the card and I don't - so you must have more up to date information than I do, but my research into this, which is keeping me away from the card at this time, is that there is subtlety here. Have read the PDS and spoken with two different CSR's at Amex now and the options appear to me to be:
Definitions used in this post:
Rewards point (RP) = no more than a measure of accrual/spend per month, these are directed to one of the below monthly:
DJ Membership Rewards (DJMR) = a parallel scheme to the standard direct Amex Ascent Membership rewards run by Amex for accumulation of DJMR points
Amex Ascent Membership Rewards (AAMR)= The standard MR scheme we are mostly used to which accumulates AAMR points.
Options:
- Transfer direct sweep to QFF at 1x RP : 0.75 QFF points
- Conversion to DJMR at 1 : 1 for accumulation in the DJMR scheme. This is free of charge. DJMR points are transferred to partners at varying rates, but most airlines are 2:1
- DJMR points may be moved, or 'gifted' to other people, but this method also allows one to gift to ones own AAMR account. The cost is $5 / 1000 points. AAMR allows transfer to most partner airlines at 1:1. Aside from the cost involved there is also a 50,000 DJMR point cap per year (on transfers).
