Bonus points credited upon first 3 transactions, even before annual fee has posted. Good news for my AA via Spg balance.

Re: David Jones Amex 30K MR or 22500 QFF bonus signup until 7Oct, instore, $99 annual

I canceled my card today, and they did not offer anything. I signed up 1 year ago due to 30K points, now just need to wait another 12 months to get another 30K points.;)

Re: David Jones Amex 30K MR or 22500 QFF bonus signup until 7Oct, instore, $99 annual

Are there any other providers that are connected with AA/SPG other then AMEX brand/David Jones?

ie: bank issued

Cashed in my points today for wish cards.
Think I will cancel the card. Not much use for it.

After I transferred all of points to SPG last night, only 26 points remained in my account, dont know where I can use them.

You will NOT get bonus points if you hold the same card within last 12 months, it is on their T&C, unless you have tried and been successful, then I'd delight to re-apply again.

Have applied and been successful 3 out of 3 times so far.

That's nice to hear, did you cancel and then re-apply immediately? I will try it as well.

Diners Club

I've spent more time then I should staring at Diners Club. After all this time I must admit I still don't know who their target audience is. Several times I was on the verge of signing up but let it slip as their offering is expensive and I always felt I'd really seriously have to _work_ the system just to get my initial investment value out of it.

Diners appears to be expensive to get into and expensive to use ... surcharges are usually the highest for any card out there in common use in Australia and acceptance is pretty low. I really wanted to find an angle I could use, but failed ... and when they went through a points transfer devaluation lately (VA now 1.5:1 amongst others) I just gave up the fight - figuring that the product just wasn't aimed at me.

I can't remember the gaps between the applications but I had 3 successful applications within 12 months...

Thanks, I think the gap between maybe around 2-3 months.

I really don't get AMEX marketing strategy, CSR asked me the reason to cancel, and I told them if I pay $99 then get nothing, however if I quit, then join in again and pay the same fee, I would get extra 30K points. CSR canceled my account immediately.

I found US call centre are more willing to cancel your card rather to keep you.

Yes, I know - its makes you scratch your chin sometimes - but I think you have to take a larger statistical view as I'm sure Amex does, much like insurance companies do. The number crunchers behind these sorts of policies will be smart folks and full know that a couple of us will see the obvious and "game" the system - but they also know that the vast majority either won't know or won't care and will simply eat their dog food. These are the customers that Amex (and card providers in general) really want. Pay their fees, pay any surcharges on purchases and not churn cards too often.

In the meantime I guess such policies allow us FF gamers opportunity ... they could easily institute a policy, for example, where bonus points are only ever paid out once on a particular product for a given customer.

You are absolutely right, AMEX in Aus are becoming more likely in US, simply churn and re-apply, repeat again and again to get points.

Got my wish cards yesterday, only took 2 days. Very good service.

I think I have figured out why AMEX rather let you go instead of retain you. From Whirlpool, to sell DJ AMEX card to shoppers is part of each sales KPI, no wonder they keep offering bonus to new customers.
