Delay in Citi Select Rewards Point Posting

Five separate payments made on 27 & 28 Feb all OK. CR since 2010.
Citi never used to worry about me exceeding my limit going up to 10K over with no fees unless I stayed over at the new statement date. Now get a letter in the mail though thankfully still no fee.
Surprisingly got a letter dated 12 March advising they had recently updated my contact details which was news to me. Phoning them, they had a new home number recorded and the way she took my surprise, I gathered they have had a systems glitch.

Looks like CitiSelect is no longer giving points for ATO transaction. I rang up today after finally seeing no points given for ato transactions(all other transactions posted points perfectly) in my March statement. Citiselect CSA confirmed that ATO transaction was being classified as non-retail and thus no points were awarded.

Interesting times ahead to say the least.

i would have thought that Citibank would have needed to advise you and everyone else in writing that ATO payments do not attract points...no?

We all know citibank reps are on here....

cove.... perhaps one card wallet is enough now.....

Credit card companies need us more than we need them....there are and always will be other cards...!

Interestingly citi select has an annual fee of $700  I would hope to think that paying some of my personal taxes to earn a few thousand points would be possible to cover such an annual fee....

Looks like it wont just be westpac cards meeting the scissors shortly...

If this is true (Citi select not giving pts for ATO spend), along with the Westpac cap, cove will be getting pretty depressed. ...actually, I'm also getting a little despondent with all these changes that limit our point earning!

looks like we can classify March as scissors month...! Perhaps?

Edit: really makes you wonder what the airlines think of all this...perhaps their increasing charges for points are now hurting...? Perhaps the glory days of QFF and others are nearing an end...? just a thought

I'm guessing soon or later, ATO payments points earning scheme will be banned by all of credit cards providers, honeymoon is over, folks.

+1

Just an observation: a fair amount of low-number posters here rather than the usual suspects on AFF

Discretion rules

Citi told me today that there will be no points awarded for ATO payments so it is Plan B going forward.

Why did you all contact citi about this?? Now they have done a review and made a decision to stop it. :( !! argh exactly like xs again

It is kinder to AFF members to not have them waste money to get dust as Citi have not contacted us.
Someone might pay quite a bit of money out thinking it would work for March 21 or March 28 when it probably wont unless it is an oversight by Citi.
Citi is not telling card holders about their policy change in March,2013. They say it was in their terms and conditions but not policed.

I think it's naive to think that Citi were not already onto this. There were cracks showing some months back when Citi started warning new card members about business and government related transactions. At the end of the day, it's all just a game. As cove said above, time to enact a Plan B...

I disagree - for a range of reasons.

My #1 reason is I'm opposed to hypocrisy. Another example of someone who was quite happy to log onto AFF and learn about these opportunities themself but then wants us to shut the door once they are inside so noone else knows.

If there were a super-big-like button, I'd hit it on your post.

Without public contributions to AFF I wouldn't have the opportunity to pay tax on CCs, let alone know which card(s) represent the best value / earn / whatever. Who am I - and who is a anyone else - to deny others the same opportunity for selfish reasons?
