Denali Demo and Rebuild

Before we started building we use to build watch all the houses being knocked down and built around us and I said to Mr Denali that the last few weeks must be the hardest. I can confirm this.

Although it seems nothing is happening, things are, just not fast enough for us. Our storm water is not completed due to rain last week and rain is forecast for this week/next so thats peeving me off.

But, we had a 2 day visit from painters to do rectification work, we had a GJ tradie supervisor here for 6hrs today as he did tidy ups and finishes off, like the manhole cover in the loft and we now have the aircon people doing their check off paperwork on zones, temps ect.

In the meantime we got our blinds/screens quotes, $20K, and thats not all screens that I think we will add at least 2 more on windows later on.

We think we're down to storm water finish, hot water installation, appliances, pantry fix up, carpet, any rectification work and final QA paperwork/lodging with council.

And I'm betting you almost feel like you could get in there and get all the finishing touches done before they could.

CM inspection, we think thats the Construction Management inspection for signoff/paperwork for council. Will ask our SS next time we see him.

How many fans can you fit in a Subaru? The answer is 11🤣

Like the lights, these will be done after handover.

We also had a three or four quick tradie visits, doing mysterious things, today. Our SS was working the phone so I appreciate getting things done before our practical completion inspection.

Roof plumbers are here to cut the hole and install the missing downpipe. This corner was overflowing so we requested a downpipe and then I looked at the plans and realised it was missing. Currently bucketing down here so the guys are taking advantage of it to check the flow of the other gutters as well. Goes to show how much water is collected from the roof, although its all being pushed to the street as our tank is full.

I wonder how Bob/neighbour across the road is feeling as he had no one on site last week and even in this coughpy weather, I have two roof plumbers and a painter.

See these 3 draw cabinets.... $3025 each.... yes, each. So $9075 for these 3 x draw cabinets. Not the table top, just the cabinets.

This 2 cupboard unit, $5500

So $15K just for the above cabinets, nothing special. Not metal, not custom painted, just flatpack cabinets.

Had garage quote #2 this morning so will be interesting

I said to Mr Denali that worse case scenario, we have them do the slat wall and the heavy duty shelves only, like these

And get the below work station for the other side of the wall

Received quote# 2 and its $9800 inc gst and delivery. We're happy with this. If we piece parted it to create we would be looking at about $5+K before I have to get someone in to put together/install.

Includes the workbench on the LHS with slat wall and shelving, RHS is all slat wall with shelving/baskets and rear wall has heavy duty shelving.

Protective flooring before the grease spots happen?

Ive thought about it but not talked about it to Mr Denali yet. I guess its something we can always add after if it becomes a want.

I do want to get the garage door insulated so I would do this before epoxy flooring

I'm going to have to look into that

We have a single full length carpet. It was free. Offcuts and end lots by local Carpet Court are left next to the dumpster to customers to collect. They advised us to help ourselves. It was perfect. I vac it and is great sound deadening. If I want to replace I will just get a new piece

After two weeks of rain delay our rear stormwater started and we now own a hole in the ground

Of course, this would be the day after I sprayed 15ltrs of Roundup on the weeds, which the excavator tore up 😂... or as Mr Denali calls it, me going scorched earth with unlimited supply of RUP 🤣

Before yesterdays RUP efforts and todays excavator tearing it up - I was so looking forward to watching the weeds die off, its quite therapeutic
