Denali Demo and Rebuild

No criticism. Just an observation from previous experience. Ours lasted 3 years. The veneer peels off with stick tape. Finally Demolished by visitor leaning back on one. That was when we discovered its cardboard construction.
I wasn't quite sure when you first commented on the IKEA desk - was it a bad experience when dancing on the desk etc? I have an IKEA desk that has done the job for four years, and still going strong

Moving out of mum in laws and into our home and council pickup booked.

So far most of the stuff on the curb have been picked up by random drive-bys. Brand new fly screens (replaced builders standard with crimsafe) and Ikea bookshelves and dining table gone. Even the plastic outdoor chairs and table gone.

Using Airtasker again for labourer/general cleanup/pick up rubble and rubbish and muscle because Mr Denali hasnt used the car jacks he bought 7yrs and 2 moves ago so they were gone/picked up quickly as well 🤫

Also had to phone builder yesterday as our fancy toilet started leaking fresh water every time we flushed, it was a pinched rubber thingy and they had to reseat/reseal it so hoping thats the only grief we'll be happy (fingers crossed).

Having followed along the whole exciting journey and knowing the oversight you always kept up of the project, I was talking to a young colleague at work last week. They are building a new house and although nearly ready to move into, they are already planning either renovations or to move. Chasing the builder to do things properly - a litany of errors. For example the downlights throughout were all in random places - crooked over the bench and in the laundry right next to the back door. As well the requested timber for the upper kitchen cupboards was not installed. They also called in last weekend to find the whole house unlocked. She is so disappointed (though seems to have managed to get most of the lights re-located). I feel so sorry for her as this was to be an exciting new home for the family.

We were planning on doing custom wardrobes but decided they can wait until other priorities are paid for (landscaping) so to the Swedish box store were go and within 2 days we have these and very happy with the finish and amount of storage. I also used Ikea assembly services and very happy with the job and they're safely secured to the walls.

We didn't install doors as we know from our old place we didn't like opening and closing them all the time but if it annoys me later on I can add doors. We also didn't do the other bedrooms (as I want to do them custom later on) so for now we have our old house Ikea bookcases in them for storage. These are a little bit smaller than our old wardrobe but feels more useful because of the extra drawers, I don't need a lot of full length hanging space plus we have a huge linen cupboard and other bedrooms . The old place didn't have a linen cupboard so everything went into our wardrobe.

Now to stop living out of boxes and put things away.

We used IKEA wardrobes for our place at Port Broughton and made them up myself. I'm really happy with them.

Our extra thick 2.7mtr shower screen was replaced this morning as the original one had a scratch on it. The guys were not happy with having to carry it in and out

We're also finally going to get our red bow hand over experience and the red bow will be here on Friday 🤣. With the fast tradie pace of handover day and bad weather, we didnt get the red bow on the door so they're coming back on Friday

Red bow handover experience today.... builder was impressed by Mr Denali's tshirt

Also dropped 5 boxes of stuff at the nearby salvos and for once the reception was a happy one. Must be because 98% of everything was new in box or with tags.

I also organised Mr Denali's hundreds of unworn tshirts by colour and theme - every single basket is full. During our argument about his hoarding, the words "Im going to give them away at your funeral" and "Good! Do that and give everyone one to take home as well" were said.

Does the big red bow get a keeper spot in the house or maybe you don't have enough room 😂

One wall completed... I don't remember the bottom row, third from the left guitar but Mr Denali said he's had it for ages 🤔

He's also talking about a piano again so I made a same sized one in cardboard to get a feel of it 🤣. Legs are a bit too high but you get the idea

Tell Mr Denali that I see quite a few guitars missing from his collection.
and only 2 basses?
He needs a shopping expedition.

And for any older musos who remember Guitar Crazy at Coogee.
22 years ago today the owner and my close friend Charlie Bevk died from MND.
