Denali Demo and Rebuild

Mr Denali has a friend (Jane) who is building the same house design with the same builder with some modifications, like adding a granny flat and no loft. So Mr Denali invited her over to see our new home and ask questions as they were catching up last week and her build is going great. Jane wanted to see our blinds and shutters ect for ideas and go to the same store (Sydney Blinds).

Jane brought her friend Mary, Mr Denali went to school with both Jane and Mary and was excited to show the house to them.

Didnt matter if myself, Mr Denali or Jane said anything about our builds, Mary HAD to discuss her choices or what she has... in a 40+yr house. It was exhausting. Mary even had to tell me what I should do with my cutlery drawer so its the same as hers.

At multiple times I would just have a side conversation with Jane about her home just so I could hear her say something about her build as Mary kept going on.

Oh and we finally have dining chairs! They arrived todays so I have to return the 2 I borrowed from the office lunch room 🤣

I wonder why Jane brought Mary?

So many people are just stupid. I just had a retired Physio friend visit. I’ve just had a knee replacement and she asked if I’d been given any exercises to do. FFS. Yes I have a short fuse at the moment but really

I think because Mary is a snoopy snoop. I was in the lower level and as I walked up to the foyer I heard her say some things about me, "I suppose Denali wants to be annoying and make me take my shoes off". Ummmm, its my home with new carpets - I dont even want you in my house so yes. Every little thing, she had to relate it to herself, whether it was about the cleaner, the curtains, the paint, the birds outside (rosellas today), the coffee she has in our house (we offered 12 different types of Nespresso pods). Even the fact that we have CDs in the house and that we park both cars in our garage warranted comments from her about what she does or how she would do it.

I felt bad for Jane as I really wanted to hear her talk about her build (which is going great btw).

Oh and Bob across the road new build update.... we think hes taken over the house and moved in but they still have temp fencing, half a driveway, a portaloo in their front yard and half a footpath with bunting all over it.

So I take it the trip to the market on Thursday is off then? <tiptoeing away now >

Umm, has Mary been following the build online? ;) 🤣

Sounds like an episode of Colin from Accounts.

“tiptoeing away now”. Just cruel. :) :)

Slightly different but I once worked with a woman who would invariably steer every conversation around to her and how she was sicker, had a harder time with her relatives, had more experience about anything etc. Very tedious.
I have a colleague like that. So now he is known for having an iChat.

Brother in law sent the boys (nephews) over to install some more guitar racking on the wall, move the caravan to the street as its being sold tomorrow and installed our house sign. This was needed as our mail box is still technically on mum in laws corner of the property so couriers have been walking down and in-between the two houses (red brick in distance). Aussie post hasnt had an issue, just couriers.

Still waiting for for updated DA so we can do driveway and landscaping. The cardboard is to keep dirt, sand and mud out of the garage & house.

The caravan was in mum in laws front yard so they reversed it into our yard and then onto the street - I didnt watch but Im glad I had brother in law in charge as no way Mr Denali could have done it. We gifted BIL & nephews choices of bottle from our collection. Brother in law took a limited boxed 30yr Ballantines and hes going to a funeral today so said it would be a good farewell for friend. Nephews picked Makers Mark & Bundy 🤣

Yesterday nephews and brother in law got the caravan out of the front yard and to the street. This morning, as we didnt lock it up, we expected it to be stolen but it was still there.

Today we sold it.... I wonder if this is what boat owners feel like, when they sell their boat. Mr Denali knows someone who knew someone who was looking for a caravan so cash deal and its gone.

Happy Betty White GIF

Couple of small updates

Our new landscaping DA application is once again stalled because some idiot redesigned our (already in place) storm water for funsies and submitted that to the engineer so I made a call and shot off a very stern email that we keep paying out money and getting less and less of what we want and I will not be redoing our storm water as we already had to change the plan to suit the last requirement to suit the in place storm water. End result, we still dont have DA approval so we still do not have a driveway

Nephews were on site today and repaired damaged neighbour colorbond fence panel (damaged in demo) and front damaged colorbond fence panels so glad these were ticked off the list at least. They'll be back on Friday to fix mum in laws rear verandah issue and once done, Im getting a skip and labourer to do clean-up in anticipation of landscaping

And we have been chosen by Fred the Huntsman, who now lives here. We use to have Nigel for 20+yrs in our laundry so happy to welcome Fred and told him hes allowed in the bathroom and laundry only

How do you know it's not Nigel?

Good question but I think its like the magpies when the pine tree came down, they are not happy with us so I reckon Nigel went elsewhere in disgust that his house was knocked down.

Ive been on the look out for a resident house spider as its normal to have at least one and we've co existed for decades with no issues
