I think the thread title is highly misleading. Access was NOT denied, but rather they required the invite. It is clear in the QF rules that access is fine with a boarding pass for QFF status holders on QF flights, but their rules do not specify One World flights. The practice of lounges requiring the airline invite is common throughout the world, it is not a QF thing.
Likewise I cannot find anywhere in the One World rules that stipulate you must show a boarding pass. Would the OP be equally offended if they were ¨denied¨ access if they were unable to produce a boarding pass?
The QF rules do not mention QF flights:
Whether you are travelling in Business or First and/or a Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer, including Qantas Club members you may have access to a Qantas lounge.* When you arrive at a lounge, show your Qantas Club card, or your Platinum or Gold Frequent Flyer card with your ticket or boarding pass.
If you are travelling internationally, you will also need to show your Qantas Club card or your Platinum or Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer membership card at check-in. Our international lounges are easy to find once you have gone through passport control.
Equally there is no mention of a requirement for an invitation on the access page.
So let's look at the process. Upon gaining entry to the F lounge the BP of every pax entering is scanned. Personally if I was looking for controls to ensure that we capture lounge usage by pax on other airlines for the purpose of on-billing for that usage I would not be relying on bits of paper stuck in a draw that are reliant on all pax handing them over on entry (refer my earlier comments that due to my obstinate nature I do not hand over the invites). I would be starting at a minimum with a daily/weekly report from the system that we scanned the BPs into. I am hoping that JL finance are not the ones requiring the invites to be attached to the invoice that is sent by QF to JL.
