Diners Club Australia and Priority Pass membership/restaurant credits

Can you clarify this please? So was it enough to show the Diners Club without the PP card at the food outlets? And do you have to swipe the DC card to get the food credit?

thanks
Yes, as camcam also said, just showing the Diners Club physical card worked perfectly fine as well, and you don't have to be registered as using my partner's card that isn't registered with PP worked with no issue. I believe the physical card and the PP app (if you sign up) must be linked because in my visit history on the PP app I see all visits appear, regardless of whether I used my physical Diners Club card or the QR code through the app.

I've never used the food outlets but am planning to soon. It says there is a food credit of $36 per person. If you go past that, the card will be charged an extra $36 for a total of $72.

I don't think you even have to use the diners card to pay for the food.

Diners Club cards offer no guest benefits for lounges or at PP cafes, so if there are two of you with only one card you'll pay for the guest which is I believe US $27 which isn't worth it. Two cards and two people however, then it's happy days.

The extra guest fee varies. I've sern guest fees be as much as USD52!!

Can someone please clarify this the primary diners card comes with lounge access too plus it can also register a priority pass account?
So you can literally have 2 priority pass?

All other additional diners cards don't have lounge access and can't register a priority pass account. Or actually it has too?

Thanks in advance. 😆

I only have experience with AU issued cards.

You can no longer apply for new Personal Diners accounts in AU (since taken over by NAB). You can still apply for Business Accounts.

Existing Personal Diners cards primary or additional are entitled to unlimited access to lounges at 1300 locations throughout the world, FF points and other benefits such as free travel insurance *IF* you have applied for "rewards package" for that card ($55 per annum). i.e. if you have two cards you pay for 2 rewards packages @ $55 per annum.

As I understand it (could be wrong), existing account holders can still apply for additional cards to the existing account and apply for "rewards" to be added to those cards.

Mine is the Citi companion diners card. The citi website says it doesn't have lounge access, but some from here say they can use it without problems. Anyway I just requested one. Will see how it works.

I also have the companion Diners card that comes with the Citi Premier. Does the companion Diners get this benefit too?

My companion Diners card still hasn't arrived yet. But as I researched here and Ozb I've seen many reported they used their citi linked Diners to access lounges and restaurants. So I assume it works. You can even use it to activate a Priority pass account.

Maybe you can try it to activate a PP account and share the result back.

Will do - can you have multiple PP accounts on the app or do you have to logout and create a new login for a new card?

Also am confirming that I was able to activate the priority pass app on my android phone using Diners Club Personal card. Then used my Diners club card to swipe for food credit at Wok On Air in T3 at Sydney Domestic. No issues. Immediately appeared in my Priority Pass app visit history. So obviously the Diners Club Lounge access system is working through Priority Pass.

Wait so does that mean you can technically have upto 3 Priority Pass two being from Citibank and one being from Diners?

can one request Diners club to reissue their business card with just the family name on it without a title so then other family members can use the card to enter lounges? i know they allow the embossed name with abbreviation of the first name not sure with they will will allow it without a title and initial will be good if they do so then it will match the kids boarding pass granting them access.

Just activated online PP account with Diners number. Great tip!
Yes, that's really good, but how does it help you?

I've been a DC cardholder here in Australia since 2000, and haven't had a problem with lounge access at all.

So what's the big deal with being able to see your lounge access details in PP? Why bother?

Possibly double dipping with pp on their Citi prestige and their linked dc.
