Over the days of my purchases up until the reconciled amounts appeared in my accounts, the AUD<->USD exchange rate moved from 67.2c to 67.1c. So negligible a change as to not be statistically significant.

i had a couple transactions over two days, the rate barely moved from 67.2 and the conversions came out to 1.3x % again.
Just my luck I cant ever seem to be able to buy something and have the rate go up.

I'm going to america soon, so I will give the Diners a flogging, and see what happens.

I have a flight in Saturday and would like to know this too. It would be great if I could use this campanion diners card for lounge access for the kids for fee free? Can anyone thats tried confirm here please? Myztikal do you know the link to the other thread?

If someone got lucky because a lounge receptionist made a mistake, then he is a fool for telling everyone about it!

If you attempt it, do you mind reporting back the outcome?

i tried the citibank signature diners companion card that does not have a chip but it wasnt recognised when they swiped it. then pulled out a citibank platinum diners companion card that does have a chip and it went through in BNE. Questioned them if i would get charged by diners staff said its up to the card issuer nothing to do with them they just swipe the card to see if it works. So far no charges or pending history is on account. mind you the priority pass use does not yet show any activity either yet. how long before these reflect on diners club and priority pass accounts?

My Citibank signature diners companion card has a chip. I got this a couple of months ago now (<4 months).

Unfortunately I don't know how long it takes to show up but I'm guessing your platinum wouldn't be linked to any Priority Pass account.

Coolstepslg, can you confirm if you saw any charges one week after?

i confirm still no charges after using a chip citibank companion diners club card for the platinum card on 14th Sept. also my Proity pass has already been processed used on the same day and lougne for the kids. I wonder if i call citibank will they agree to send me a replacement diners club card for the signature card as it doesnt have a chip and ask them to only print the last name so my kids can use it ? i still havent been able to find one store in Thailand that accepts Diners club.

Just made a purchase on cheaptickets.com with companion Diners.

USD277.68
Xe.com 1AUD=0.690692USD
Charge showing in Citibank app: AUD401.66 (1AUD=0.69133USD)

Not bad.

you are comparing to a pending transaction, that amount will not be the final calculation.
take a note daily, and when it finally is posted, do your comparison then. I am *fairly* certain Diners/City does the conversion on posting date, not transaction date.

Ok, final amount has come through. It is AUD406.60, so that means it converted at 0.6829. Not bad value IMO.

Just attempted to book on the hilton site who accepts discover, visa, mc and jcb.

Our diners got denied, called up CS to find out whats going on, they confirmed that if the merchant accepts diners club, then our cards will work, if it's only discovery, then it *might* work.

I seem to have the same problem, twice in a week. My experience is the online site accepts and validate the card, but then is rejected later.
In one case, they passed a $1 authorisation successfully, but then later they get the error "card type not accepted" when applying the subscription payment.

the 2nd one was with Hilton. The prepaid booking is confirmed, 2 days later I get an email from the hotel saying the credit card was declined, and they cant take a manual payment. They want me to rebook, but the price has gone up

I dont remember if I ever using this Diners online before.

Having come back from a trip to the USA, I've found that the card has a much better rate of acceptance there, at least compared to Australia and Asia. Like others have mentioned, most merchants that accept Discover will take the card, however some won't.

I found that a lot of systems that only accept Discover and require manual entry (either staff entry or online) won't accept the card as the card number does not match the Discover format. However, if you use an actual eftpos machine the transaction will go through and the receipt will state Discover. Some eftpos machines will outright reject the card regardless though.

Has anyone contacted Citi and got a response as to why this "Diners" card is so limited compared with others?

Got new cards the other week, god I now hate having contactless in it.
as everybody else said, you can’t swipe straight away as it detects the pay pass and fails, then wants the chip inserted to fail before it lets you swipe

ugghhhh when do we get paypass for these?

That's like the old Amex dance?

I assume that's just the Diners and that the Visa still works ok.
My VISA works fine, it's just the Citi Diners that's an issue. I actually thought I had a faulty card & requested a new one. It made no difference.
The only benefit appears to be that you earn more points.

Thanks, yes, I only use it for transactions in foreign currencies as it's my only points earning card that doesn't have foreign transaction fees but I think they make it up with the exchange rate.

Others have said this is the case but I'd like to test it out by buying something with the Visa and the same thing with the Diners to see if there's a difference.

I have generally used it for paying for flights departing from overseas.

Here's the proof you are wanting without having to go through the exercise yourself
