Diners-ropey start

I tried transferring to SPG online and got error, called and got representative to do it. However, this was 3 weeks ago. Still waiting. Once it hits '28 days' I'll call up and ask what is going on. They need a major system upgrade.

No,no,no.Last time they did that nothing worked for at least 6 months.Never did get all my points back.

I called them last night and they will investigate. I initiated my SPG redemption over the phone on 17 jan. Hoping it's not a detail mismatch.

Diners earn is good vs Amex (except edge at supermarkets) and I generally redeem for Velocity (2ppd earn rate on DC - I don't use the MC). I'll persist for a while longer. Seems redemption is a weakness. Velocity also 28 day turnaround.

Been in touch with DC last few days - now nearly 2 weeks overdue for my SPG points to show up so likely to lose my booking at this rate.

They've been "investigating" for some time. If it's this hard to redeem points, maybe I'll need to reconsider keeping my DC.

Has anyone done a SPG redemption lately? How long has it taken?

I finally got the points back from my attempt to transfer to SPG in November 2014, now I have a transfer from the 23rd January that hasn't gone through yet....and another mid Feb....and yesterday I attempted a phone transfer to SPG. (The original November effort)

The reality is it's rubbish. There is no transparency on points earn, and no transparency on points transfer. I take a screenshot of every part of the online transfer process....but now, having been told by a customer service rep that it is not possible to transfer points to SPG online I'll be trying the phone approach.

Thanks for your feedback TonyHancock. I think my DC experiment is over. Gonna call hotel and pay cash for my booking before $A tanks further, drain rest of my points to Velocity, put DC on ice & cancel on anniversary. Shame, I like the product and was willing to overlook language barriers with call center and lack of transparency.

They are still investigating my missing transfer.

They are so so bad it is crazy but I like SPG points a lot so I am persisting.

I did one about three weeks ago...the SPG points have yet to show.
I did an amex transfer the same day and they made SPG within two days

yes, they have the WORST customer experience of any of the credit cards that I use.
It has been intermittently possible to successfully transfer to SPG on line, as I'm sure you know. When it wasn't working at least the points didn't disappear. Sadly this time the points do seem to have gone and not reappeared in SPG

Exactly the same here after 3 weeks.

phone response today:
"it is a known problem and we are investigating it"

a resolution is expected by March 4.
After much pushing and gentle reminders about how ****e their service is I got 2000 points compensation. The CSO says he will call me back next week,,,,,but I won't be holding my breath.

As is often the case with Diners very polite, and promises of service recovery. But we'll see

They've been calling me back - called me again yesterday arvo and told me SPG had advised received the points. App & website begs to differ as well as SPG phone support.

This morning got told it is a known problem and will have more news early next week (presumably on 4 March).

Final straw, prepaid a small contribution to Canberra overnight & they approved the payment. Getting link to financial institution down error message all day with Canberra payment portal. Paid by CBA card without a problem.

Might just pay for my SPG stay and ask for my points back & transfer out with next velocity bonus offer & call it a day.

Shame, I actually like the product.

It's annoying when Amex transfers happen faultlessly. At at least IME

Yep similar thing to me although I didn't realize that I had to apply for the bloody rewards program! I figured if I got both diners and mc that I would automatically be enrolled. However not to be the case.

I enquired about this as I couldn't actually see anywhere on my account how many points I had acquired even after paying off my first statement. Was told that the points will be there in 3-5 working days, but I'm not holding my breath. Like you guys I'm considering making the switch the AMEX but we shall see. I actually like the fact that I can get more points on DC/MC than AMEX on pretty much everything but if the points never get to me or it takes forever then what's the point?

DC beats Amex for SPG earn with 1.5SPG on DC spend and respectable 0.625SPG on MC spend vs Amex at 0.5SPG per dollar (1.5 at supermarkets with platinum edge).

Took me 3 months and numerous phone calls to get my transfer to SPG. I was so annoyed I rang and cancelled the card. They sent some bizarre letter saying they would cancel the card in 6 months if I didn't use it (hard to do as I had already cut it up!). It's over 6 months but I still receive the weekly balance alert email.

I still needed a follow-up phone call to get the first statement points despite letter promising them once second statement came through.
Waiting to see if second set of points post now

So the question now becomes what card is a good one to supplement the AMEX one?

lol, I don't understand the question. There is no such thing as too many credit cards. :) get em all. I'm trying to

(yes, I am aware that some people have problems with credit and this post is ever so partly in jest)

Haha yes I do have this current obsession with obtaining credit cards but I'm trying to get a loan as well and the lenders don't see it as favourable to have such a high credit limit.

thank you for understanding. Have a good weekend :)
